I have some of the skrewball
Ill stick with the Aldis peanut butter!
I'm not a booze snob, but I refuse to countenance all these "candy" liquors. Some people must have the taste buds of a ten-year-old. Or they ARE ten-year-olds.
I am with Rocky , booze should taste like booze not candy . Also not a snob ,my palate is not sophisticated enough to wax eloquent about hints of oak and tannin and such .
Made a cake out of some of the Skrewball and yes IT WAS DELICIOUS
In fact making one now.... duncan hines chocolate devils food cake with skrewball peanut butter whisky. Glad this thread was posted.
To this day I don't ever want any type of booze that's premixed with anything ever again. Back in the summer of '66 a friend gave me a couple of pints of premixed orange vodka one evening and they were warm. I drank them down like they were cool-aide and then about 45 minutes later I thought I was going to die. It's actually a wonder I didn't 'cause that crap was pretty strong for a kid. I spent the night laying with my head hanging off the end of a cloths folding table in a trailer park laundry mat. Woke up finally before daylight and then had to go hunting for my motorcycle.
How I didn't wake up mom when I got home that morning I'll never know. It was still dark and she had a fan sitting in the hallway and I fell over that dang thing as if I had fallen head first off a cliff. CRASH...BAM, enough noise to raise the dead and she slept through it. Luckily dad was out of town. That stuff would make me sick just to look at it years later.
How I lived through my teen years was a miracle. Then the good Lord sent June to rescue me because I think he got tired of doing it himself. She whooped me into shape and put me on the straight and narrow and I manage to live to be an old man. Without her I would not be here today.
Cake is done, cooled and having some after supper.
I used to make fun of people who drank flavored whisky. But the Old Smokey Peanut Butter and the Salty Caramel are actually pretty good. The Screwball is a little to sweet for my taste.
Smithy, I had a similar experience with Vodka and Orange Crush. I can't stand to smell vodka to this day.
Well the devils food cake with Skrewball Peanut Butter Whisky was beyond great. Better than an Rum Cake.
I don't think I could agree more. It seems like one thing to have unique flavors maybe a bit smokier, maybe a bit oak-ier, but there should be a line somewhere it seems. Who says: "hey this whiskey is pretty good, let's add a dozen snickers bars and see what comes out"?
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
Did I mention the cake was very very delicious. The first one was with a yellow a cake mix. The Devils Food really rocks the flavor "a lot "
Tonight we are making some pressure cooker spare ribs with some cheap jack daniels.
My story just about mimics Smitty's. Only it was a pint of vodka and a pint of peppermint schnapps. I was 18 going on 100 by the time I recovered from that stuff!
To this day, even the smell of peppermint makes my stomach turn.
Made a BEER drinker out of me.
I had my run in with Jack Daniels while serving in Germany... would get sick anytime I smelled it for almost 20 years... I can handle the smell now a days, but still won't drink that Tennessee whiskey, Kentucky on the other hand is mighty fine, although it's mostly just beer these days...
Those NASTY Mint Julips qualify also
Smirnoff vodka and orange juice still turns my stomach 45 years later .
