Watch Your Mouth @ Dunkin Donut (C&P)

cbxjeffcbxjeff Member Posts: 17,601 ✭✭✭✭

"Dunkin’ Donuts employee based in Tampa, Florida had confronted an angry customer who was using racial slurs toward him, resulting in a fatal punch to the customer." The vic was 77 but maybe he should have been in a home. Sad story, but if common sense is lacking perhaps profession help is needed.

He got two years house arrest. If the white guy wouldn't have died, he would have been woke up and jailed.

A tough lesson: if you have a battleship mouth, you'd best be able to back it up.

Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

An assault on a senior person can be construed as elder abuse.

My late dad would tell my something like "Don't let your alligator mouth get in the way of your hummingbird ... ". I forget the rest.

I will agree to a point most all know free speech is long gone and saying something that offends some one is just courtesy to keep it to your self , but the fellow was 77 yrs old he may or may not have engaged his brain before his mouth was in gear if he was a lot younger well it possible to trigger some one to hit you . but what if he had a CC the Cleark hit him then he killed thee Cleark for hitting him his life was in danger the clerk was called a name he was not touched

but honest how many on here would hit some one for just calling them a name when younger maybe most of us are older and have know "sticks and stones will break our bones" but names will not hurt LOL

I am by no mean's saying the old fellow was not wrong , just from out side looking in sure seems wrong why not call the manager or LEO and just have him removed

The employee could have refused service.

Over reaction by the young guy - sure. I guess restraint and common sense has to be acquired. Felony battery - appropriate, manslaughter - might be tough for a conviction especially with the kids background, 2 years house arrest may be light but is no walk in the park. Nobody wins here.

Your 2 cents comment is what is gets me. The double standard is unbelievable in this case. However I do not think the shop should pay any damages. I hope the perp gets sued and he gets his pay levied for the rest of his life.

the bumper chasers always follow the money the employee has ZERO the company = money even just 50 or 100 grand to make it go away

how many " shooters " have been sued then how many schools businesses states ,cities even company's sued over things beyond there control be it a employee ( think LEO and millions paid out for there actions ) or even a nut case who got on the property its always ( the American way ) follow the money just ask Remington's insurance company just to get the suit off there back and move on

I remember reading a long time ago most large company's will gladly pay out at least 50k k ( I would wager more now ) and move on. the legal cost of a small army of lawyers' and time in court and keep there name out of the head lines easy way out

sad but just part of the system

Unfortunately for the perp most bumper chasers will go after both. Easy to get a judgement against perp because they can’t afford an attorney and anything collected just adds to chasers fee.

My guess is that a guess, BUT, I will bet the guy had a few issues with dementia ect. which will cause things like that.

After working in a hospital for about 24 years I can tell you I was called every word in the book and it was "part of the job" because if you had issues 90% of the time the people were mentally unstable,, elders with dementia ect. drunks or druggies on a high or coming down ect..

The other 10% were just racists. You lived with it.

He went inside from the drive up. They knew him from prior visits... my guess someone said something to him to make him upset. He went inside and went ballistic. Something tells me there is more to the story.

According to the article quote below....All the rappers and those who sing along can be killed and one would only get house arrest!

“Two of the primary factors were the aggressive approach the victim took toward the defendant and everyone working with the defendant, and that the victim repeatedly used possibly the most aggressive and offensive term in the English language,”

The AGGRESSIVE approach from a 77 YO, give me a break!

So IF someone NON black says it, then death penalty is ok. BUT the killer most likely listened to it 100 times in rap songs on his way home after being SO offended by the word. SMDH.
