we just lost a older cat did what we could but too old and sick sad loss for the wife burred it yesterday in the pet cemetery my wife says our going to be resting place also 🙄 i
n a few hours from now were headed to the vet to have Roadster fixed he was found on the road back in the early winter maybe 6 to 8 weeks old in the middle of the road . we have the girls fixed asap the boys as time and $$ allow food and vet bills add up fast but my wife hates to see any animal just abandoned or sentenced to die at a shelter
we also have a grown stray black and white cat been mooching food and hanging around last couple weeks I am guessing a male , it will not allow any one to get close but that scared feeling goes away ( trust me after many such events )
have I mentioned I am not a cat fan but wife loves them so I have gotten to tolerate them over the years

Good for y'all. I like cats, we had one, Mrs. Gray, we had her for 19 years. No mice or rats around the house with Mrs. Gray on duty. One day, a couple of 60 pound dogs came up on our porch, Mrs. Gray beat them up and sent them packing.
Mrs. Gray, the Warrior Cat.
I like cats too with a side of gravy and hash browns.
Six years ago I had a cat put to sleep, I had him for over 13 years. He got diabetes and was suffering, was one of the hardest thing I had ever done, I was with him to the end, I cried like a baby. Funny how they can enter your life like a family member. For 2 or 3 months when I would come home I would look over on the bench when I came through the door and he wasn’t there, took a while to get use too.
I’m sorry for your loss.
I grew up on a farm and we had barn cats. Although I have always been more of a dog person, I do like cats and having them around. When I ran a treatment facility for delinquent children, one of our facilities was in the country. We had 10 or so cats all the time. From time to time someone would dump a cat at the facility. They were usually young males about the age where they started spraying. A little snip/snip, physical and shot and they joined the group.
We often held group sessions with the youths outside and the cats would join us. They were a very calming and therapeutic addition to the sessions. They were also part of the process as the youths were responsible to care for them and the other animals we kept at the facility. This helped them to learn to care about other living things and look out for their well being.
We adopted a cat that was dumped there. "Ace" was all black and after he was fixed, he became huge, not fat, but big. He lived with us for almost 18 years before we had to put him to sleep due to kidney failure....still miss that big old thing.
A few years ago we rescued "George" a few years ago. He was dumped at our farm and we took him in, had him nurtured and got his shots etc. At the time we still have our corgi, Dudley. Dud was old and the cat drove him nuts so we were able to get George adopted via an animal rescue group in our area.
AND finally good old Martha. She showed up in my bride's flower garden last July 3rd. She was 5-6 weeks old and it took a few days before she allowed us to hold her....we fed and watered her as well as making a shelter for her that first day.
We took her to the vet for the usual physical and had her spayed when she was old enough. Eight months later she is my buddy...We hang out together on the porch and she is a joy to have around.....
picked up roadster a several hours ago from the vet he is doing well considering , its a no kill shelter and a large place out in the country they always have a lot of dogs and cats but have huge fenced in lots and heated buildings so the animals have lots of room and space to run and play ,cats dogs goats and never know what may be there
my wife was on the way to work about 5:00 am and I got a call come to the parking lot I picked up a tiny kitten thet was sitting in the middle of the road out in the middle of no where I am guessing a feral cat or some one had dumped a mom and kittens but he was the only one around so he got a forever home along with many more 😲 cats
for some reason since we got him he bonded with me, I was the lucky one 🙄
we also made a trip to the vet a few days ago with another cat she is about ten years old having a respiratory problem . by the way if you have not experienced it one thing giving cats any meds require two people and heavy gloves . this comes from many bites and scratched up hands learning curve LOL
I have lost track of who wondered in who was brought home and who was born here we had two cats three years ago show up one wondered in one we took in both popped out a litter of kittens .. just about two weeks later with in a few days of each other after arriving and of course we had them all fixed asap after that including the kittens .
I have always been totally amazed how our cat goes from the floor to the counter top in a single bound. No running start needed, just boing! and he's there.
Junior has super powers and needs no cape! ☺️
When I was in my early teens, one of our farm cats was a solid black tomcat named Midnight. It was my job to shoot English sparrows out of the granary with my BB gun. Midnight would accompany me, and usually catch the bird before it hit the floor. Whenever I'd miss, he'd turn and give me a dirty look.
Then more recently, I had a Bengal cat (Asian leopard cat/house cat mix) that I called my hunting cat. She loved to sit in the deer stand with me, or, if she couldn't climb the tree for some reason, she would spend hours sitting at the base. Only moved on the rare occasions when a squirrel got too close
I had a Bengal cat for a while, beautiful looking cat. They don’t shed and don’t mind water, it would walk in the creek. When it would run it was so fast it looked like it’s a** was going to pass him with them long legs. Only down side to them is they have a large territory, I believe that was his down fall, got out to far one day and the coyotes got him, $1500 dollar meal. As far as being a mouser, not so much, he was a hunter.
Grew up on a farm with plenty of farm cats around.
One summer rogue tom showed up and killed a litter of kittens and caused problems so it was decided he had to go. Hired hand shot him with a 12 gage and swore he could see through the hole and the cat kept running.
LOML was a known sucker for stray cats. Friend called her because her two small dogs had a dropped -off kitten "treed" on her lawn mower and she couldn't keep it. LOML drove over and rescued cute kitten. Found a friend that wanted a kitten, but when she dropped of the stray the resident cat was most unwelcoming so "Harley" came to live with us and our other two cats and two dogs.
Got the name "Harley" cause his purr was a rumble you could hear across the room.
#1 son adopted a "Tuxedo" cat -- black with white vest and paws -- when he was 10 or so. Family that had the litter included a two-year-old that had played with the kittens. My dad always said if you wanted a gentle cat to get one that a two-year-old had raised because they would put up with anything.
And the cat would -- son could put him on his head as a "cat-skin hat", stretch him out as "running panther" and several other things. Called him Rotten cause he'd put up with anything.
LOML volunteered at animal shelter. One day she saw a tiny black kitten in one of the cages, not being cared for, etc. Someone had found him at the edge of the road and brought him in. He was so young he only had one eye starting to open. Bottle fed him for a few weeks and then he took over feeding himself.
He's now 18 pounds of coal black fur. He must be a Main * mix because he's got the ears and other characteristics as well as being considerably larger than normal cats. When he jumps up in your lap it gets filled up!
one of our cats (Stevie Ray yes named after the two blind singers ) we got as a very young 5 or 6 week old at the most kitten . a GF of my youngest son found her in the lawn and garden section of big box store . she had a terrible eye infection which took her sight I think why she was found . but 12 years later she is amazing to watch . it set up a ladder she will be on top of it empty box not long she will be in it
she knows her way around the house if we move a item or have something new sitting it will throw her off for a minute or two . I have always been amazed at how she does it
she went out once and got scared now she will go to a open door and no further. But any room or piece of furniture is open game .
HOBO my oldest son brought home he found him on the RR tracks by a old depot about 12 or 13 years ago so HOBO because of being found on the rail road great cat he will come in a eat or some petting then back out he wants to go
all the cats have names related to where they came from or some appearance issue like " Fuzz" or fuzz 2 thet showed up last year he looks like he has some Main C . cat mix or Bird ( orange cat but a white splotch looks like bird took a crap on him ) and so on down the line up we have carol one of the no tail breed cats she has to be 13 or 14 yrs old now
