The huge push towards electric cars. Just where do these greenies think the electricity.........

dreherdreher Member Posts: 8,886 ✭✭✭✭

to power these electric cars will come from?? I overheard a conversation between two female millenials. They were talking about how badly they both wanted an electric car.

Are you ready for why they were so excited about an electric car?? Wait for it. Dear Lord they vote!

You get to drive for FREE!!

The way we keep closing electric plants my guess is there wont be enough electricity to run these electric cars if we ever reach the point we have 10,000,000 of them humming down the roads.

But, but, the electricity to run my electric car is free!! Is it possible to have a negative IQ??

I would guess electric vehicle technology will advance to where we couldn't imagine now.My grand dad told me when cars started getting popular, they laughed at them and didn't know where people would buy gasoline to keep them running.

The problem is, the greenies don’t know how to think rationally!

“What we’ve got here, is, failure to communicate.”

I still want to know how long it will take the charge up an Electric combine !!! And how long that charge will last

Ask folks how they think the electricity is made. Deer in the headlights.

My daughter who is an Angel helps me take care of my wife now and then. She is also a thinker. Sold her house in Cornwall ,NY and bought a small six acre farm in Delaware County. She is looking ahead and just bought two horses.------------------------Ray

My commentary on negative iq would likely get me banned. As Moma said, " if you can't say something nice don't say nothing at all "

Did it ever occur to anyone the people forcing the green agenda upon us are East and West coast elites who stand to profit on a colossal scale? In other words the party of big business: DEMOCRATs

Electric trains have been around since 1837 in Europe. The first use of electrification on an American main line was on a four-mile stretch of the Baltimore Belt Line of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad (B&O) in 1895 connecting the main portion of the B&O to the new line to New York.

330hp 440lbs torque and weighs 63 lbs. Electric car technology is advancing rapidly. They will replace gas engines, but not for a few years.

Well, occasionally electric vehicle proponents will be familiar with the Hoover Dam, & correctly point out that hydroelectric power is created free of pollution. (Forget for a minute that the Colorado River is just about tapped out due to the diminishing snow melt.)

My local electricity provider depends on 50% coal, with nuclear & LNG producing the rest.

Don't look to Congress to give us relief. Those thieves still continue to force most of us to burn 10% ethanol in our cars, despite seeing proof that it doesn't reduce hydrocarbon in our air, & costs more money than it saves.

Anyone remember locking gas caps? How long before you need locking outlet covers to keep people from getting "free" electric?

  • kannoneerkannoneer Member Posts: 3,395 ✭✭✭✭

Electricity to power electric cars comes from batteries!

And food comes from the store. But, if they want to get technical, I bet they will tell you it comes from a food truck which brings it to the store.

Chief, I don't disagree with the concept of your statement, but you have to stop blaming this on demographics. There are idiots in every single state of this country, and it's proven daily.

Mentally, we are going in the wrong direction. I swear if someone put an article together announcing the world is flat, half of these idiots would believe it.

"I still want to know how long it will take the charge up an Electric combine !!! And how long that charge will last"

Maybe long enough to get t the field. Duetz attempted to field equipment using air cooled diesels. We own one and while it has performed well enough, there's far more upkeep than one would expect. A full hour every day to blow the dust and trash away from the cooling fins and other parts. Although there's no liquid cooling system to maintain, the various parts of the air cooling system are actually more difficult.

The 'air heads' who believe electric vehicles are a zero maintenance alternative are mislead. That only lasts a short time before all the intricate little widgets begin to fail. After how many years, I can't even keep a flashlight working for any length of time--how long is something as complicated as an electric vehicle going to meet any long term usability?

Yep, many a farmer gleefully harnessed up his team to go pull a a Model T from the mud. Those contraptions were the devil's invention....

It’s also conveniently forgotten that lithium batteries wear out faster, are more dangerous, and hurt the environment worse far worse than a gasoline engine

Won't be allowed to use horses for farm work, Too much methane, Idiots.

Follow the money and you will see why some are pushing green.

How far does a Prius go before a recharge? Will there be Recharging stations every 50 miles on the interstate? Will we run the batteries down waiting in line to recharge?

  • grdad45grdad45 Member Posts: 5,377 ✭✭✭✭

That one reason that gas is getting higher is to try to force the use of EV's? Hmmmmmm

  • chiefrchiefr Member Posts: 14,083 ✭✭✭✭

They're trying to develop renewable sources of electricity.

There will be much less resistance to windmill farms if everyone has an electric car.

  • Butchdog2Butchdog2 Member Posts: 3,834 ✭✭✭✭

If I am not mistaken the Prius charges it's own battery when you apply the brakes. It runs off gasoline too.

At least that is what I understand about how my son and his wife's do.

By the way they are not greenies, got a friend the refurbishes Prius's. Buys then dirt cheap and passes the savings on to others.

The resistance to windmill farms is that they are NOT good enough! They kill THOUSANDS(most likely millions) of birds every year INCLUDING Bald Eagles(which oil companies would be heavily fined for doing) and they are NOT renewable! Ever seen the farms where HALF the mills are broken!? Ever seen them "dispose" of old broken wind vanes?! They simply dig a LONG deep hole and bury them whole. YEA that's GREAT for the eco system!!!!

PLUS, EVERYONE would have to spend upwards of 40,000 for a NEW EV. Then what will happen to the price of EVs when there is more demand than vehicles?!

NO ONE in the world is ready, and capable of switching from oil/gas 100%. To say otherwise is simply living in a FANTASY land!

ELIO MOTORS ANNOUNCES INTENT TO PRODUCE AN ELECTRIC VERSION OF ITS POPULAR VEHICLE.

Phoenix, AZ— September 9, 2021 — Elio Motors OTCMKTS: ELIO, (eliomotors.com) is announcing their intention to produce an electric version of their three-wheeled vehicle. The announcement is based on the change in consumer demand and finance markets’ new appetite for electric vehicles. The Elio-E model has a targeted base at $14,900 making it the most affordable entry level electric vehicle on the market.

Elio Motors was founded with a vision to create a high mileage, low-cost vehicle that everyone could afford. During the initial development phase Elio Motors believed that the best strategy was to first develop a gas-powered option, establish it in the marketplace, and then launch the electric version. The entire automotive landscape has changed significantly, and Elio Motors now believes that it is better to first develop an electric powered Elio-E and get it into production. Elio Motors was able to garner over 65,000 reservations for the (Elio-G) gas-powered vehicle, proving the demand for it’s unique styling and design. Once the electric version is produced, Elio plans to potentially launch the Elio-G for consumers looking for a gas powered alternative.

Most of the engineering for proof of concept for the gas Elio-G can be utilized in the development of the electric Elio-E. Elio contacted its engineering partner Roush and their assessment was that the current design could be successfully electrified. Utilizing the work already completed will significantly shorten development time versus a clean sheet of paper approach. Elio built a series of prototypes of the Elio G, some of which will be retrofitted into electric versions for testing. Elio Motors’ progress in many other areas should be valuable to the ultimate successful creation of the Elio-E. For instance, Elio Motors went state by state and created the new category of vehicles eliminating the need to wear a helmet in your fully enclosed Elio. The plant in Shreveport is still under lease, and all of the critical manufacturing equipment is still in place.

“We never quit working to make this dream happen,” said Paul Elio, CEO of Elio Motors, “The market has changed, and investors and consumers are looking for innovative, environmentally conscious, low cost electric vehicles, and we have a great option that will appeal to a very large under-served market”.

Elio plans to offer its base three-wheeled Elio-E at a targeted price of under $15,000, giving consumers an economical and safe entry level option into the electric market that is thousands below other competitors’ offerings.

Since you won't be paying fuel taxes at the pump they will come up with a way to tax you on the miles driven. They will get their tax money without a doubt

  • Gregor62Gregor62 Member Posts: 3,143 ✭✭✭✭

Gee, I wonder how that little tricycle works in 6" of snow.

Oh wait, you have to have a second vehicle to drive in the northern hemisphere. Stellar.

  • Ditch-RunnerDitch-Runner Member Posts: 25,235 ✭✭✭✭

pay by the mile is already on the table for years when fuel efficient hi MPG cars came around Big brother had already looking at ways to make up the tax loss by charging every one a tax on how many miles you drive .

I would guess today would be just as simple as one added computer function to report every time you start and drive the car

just like the insurance app to give you better rates if you let them track your driving to make sure you fallow all the laws and speed limits .
