Hey Mark C, another "technical question" for you....

A friend of mine had a mishap at the range yesterday. Apparently, he must have double charged his ammo or something, and it blew the side of the cylinder out, as well as bending the top strap of the frame. There are still some usable parts on the gun, so in its current condition, would it still require it to be shipped to an FFL, or would its current condition consider it to be a parts gun? I realize that there is a frame with a serial number on it, but IMO, no one would want to try and straighten it and reuse it. Thanks.
