Finally moved from MD to VA

My wife and I have owned a vacation home in VA for the last 7 years. Its near her family and we figured we would someday retire there. When the housing market went nuts we put some cash into our MD home and it sold incredibly fast. Listing to settlement in 26 days. We are settling in, unpacking 20 years of stuff and enjoying the slower pace. I found a job in my industry working from home making decent money so hopefully the wife unit won't have to work. All in all it worked out well.

Sounds like you're finally home, congrats.
Welcome to Va.
Not sure how bad Maryland is (guessing bad), but I hope you brought your appetite for taxes. VA will gladly give you a heaping pile of 'em.
Accomack County. Property taxes are a third of what I was paying in MD. Car insurance is about half.
Yes, I'm aware of the personal property tax and am willing to pay it. After all, I left a state that taxed your toilet flushes and the rain!
That is a nice and interesting part of the state. Wild ponies, nice beaches, good crabbing/fishing, and maybe even some Sika Deer hunting if you can get a spot. I hope y'all enjoy full-time VA living!
Congratulations on the move.....sounds like a great change for all !!
Congratulations!!!

Welcome to The Old Dominion. Sic Semper Tyrannus!
Welcome to Virginia. I wouldn't live anywhere else, especially after moving here from NY State!
