Vehicle/Car/Truck exterior colors.

Has anyone noticed a big increase in white and gray exterior colors in vehicles? I can see some auto exec trying to increase profits by limiting colors but I wonder if consumers are happy about it. It would be one thing to try to find a parked white sedan in a large parking lot but the gray vehicles are almost camouflaged with a gray road background. Anyone nearly get into an accident because they didn't see a gray vehicle or have increased auto insurance because of the color?

I see more white vehicles than anything else. 20 years ago, it seemed more red than anything else.
no..........
I had a silver one awhile back that as soon as I got it back from the auto body shop someone would hit it again. Got rear ended 3 times in that car and twice someone smashed in the sides in the work parking lot.
out here (Az) you only have 2 colors.........white & every thing else, if it ain't white you can boil water in it during summer
I've read several articles over the years and they all agree it's because of demand and value retention, white and silver/gray are the two most desirable colors when buying. My 3 personal vehicles are white, gray metallic and hunter green, my older commercial vehicles white only.

Never cared much for white vehicles but did own a couple very early in my driving years. Here during the winter months white matches the snow all too well.
I seem to have a thing for blue in several shades because most used cars I have ever purchased were blue. Currently my pickup truck is red and my 4x4 KIA is dark blue. I need something white to show some patriotism. 😊
I once owned a black Dodge Warlock pickup and was told by a dealer that any rig painted black had to have special body treatment or better said special body care at the factory because shiny black vehicles show every single imperfection. This was a long time ago during the 70's and may not pertain at all to todays motor vehicles.
White and gray don’t show dirt as well. Where living in the country a black colored car would be impossible to keep clean looking.
As odd as it may seem, white cars show dirt less. Black cars show everything.
If you want to have fun with a parking valet in Utah just tell him, "It's the white SUV." Because about 3/4 of the cars in the lot are just that.
Yeah, mine is an "igloo white" Toyota Highlander.
I don't like gray/silver cars because they hide in the pavement.

I tend to differ from the crowd. When I saw this Tundra in Mesquite Brown, I had to have it. Mine is a '21 and I ordered the fender flares painted to match.
A brother of mine once owned a bright ORANGE Ford Fairlane way back in the 60's. You could see him coming for miles on a clear day and on a hazy day see him a quarter of that distance as well. ☺️ I actually liked that color then, but it is rare to see today.
i like white or gray vehicles, i have a white silverado and an gray 4 runner. when you buy used like i do you usually dont get too much say in the color choice.
OK, I have only owned one YELLOW car and it was a LEMON. 1980 Mercury Grand Marque. Nothing but trouble with the carburetor.
Yep! Bright green Hemi Cudas, yellow Boss Mustangs, red Z28s with white racing stripes, red Judge with the massive wing... those were memorable.
I'm mostly color blind so color is no big deal to me.I have a Jeep I still don't exactly what color it is.
well old Henery F. said you can have any color you want as long is its black
but as posted they ( car company's ) do survey's and watch buying trends to what colors are going to sell the most
Sweet truck!
my Tundra is Cement Gray.
The head of our traffic unit keeps track of vehicle colors that get pulled over for violations. For the past several years, silver or gray lead the pack. Ten years or so ago red was out in front by a lot.
For many years I owned a red Nissan 300ZX. I lost track of how many time other drivers ran into me because they "didn't see it".

The only colors of vehicles I've had in quiet a few years while living here in the South are light gray and white otherwise you have to wear oven mitts to drive with.
I used to have a black Corvette and besides it being blazing hot it needed to be washed at every stop.
4 Red 2 White 1 Blue
I've had my silver Cateye Silverado for 19 years and a silver Hyundai Sonata that's 9 years old and neither have ever been hit. I don't even have a single door nick on the truck. They both have daytime running lights so if someone can't see those then it wouldn't matter what color the vehicle is.
here's one that's a little different , this little S10, is on a local used car lot, check out the asking price
Red - Town & Country
Blue - HHR
White - GMC
Red - Honda Shadow

OD Green - Willys Jeep
Two shades of brown are most prominent in the MidWest: mud and rust
When I took a tour at a BMW factory in Regensburg Germany that my son was working at they said white was their most popular color. Flat amazing how fast they could change colors on the robotic painting line.
Is “sorta red, sorta alloy” a color?
My current ride is a limited addition bluish/brown motif with camo interior !
