I swear, I'm almost ready to start wearing the silly face masks and protective eyewear just to get through this spring. I don't care if it makes me look like a fool. I have been taking Claritin every night, but its not helping this year.

Try the Claritin D. It has pseudoephedrine as one of the ingredients. That was what the old sudafed and actifed were. Of course now you have to buy it from the pharmacy counter and show your I.D. so they know you aren't going to use it to cook up a batch of meth. It works a lot better for me than regular Claritin. I feel for you Kasey but there is a fix! I suffered with that crap for decades. I absolutely dreaded the arrival of spring and summer because I knew what was coming. Finally, I went in and saw an allergist and it was a life changing experience. After the initial testing I had to go in once a week for shots. It took about a half an hour each week for 4 years but was worth every second. I was allergic to so many things the doc nicknamed me Mr. Allergy. I had to get 4 shot/week, two in each arm for those 4 years. I now have allergy symptoms that are maybe 5% of what they were.
I would encourage you to find an outfit close to you and do the same.
Kasey I am on two different medicines, a pill and a nasal spray, seems this spring my allergies have also gotten worse, I mentioned it to my doctor last week at VA. she said she had many people complaining about allergies they had never had, or ones that did have allergies seemed to be the worst they had experienced. so their is something in the air, or maybe the covid shot worsened them🤔 either way she gave me another nasal spray and it has seemed to help, my coughing has been reduced to a level I can live with. I had been coughing and sneezing so much I was short of breath and dizzy after a spell and if out walking would have to sit down as I was afraid I was going to fall. Hope you get it figured out.......
Most likely mowing this week. Yes I wear a mask
I've had allergy-like symptoms most of my life. I finally went to the allergy & asthma center where they tested me for 47 different allergens. The outcome was that I wasn't allergic to any of the normal allergens that are common to this area.
Went to an ENT center and all they wanted to do was break my septum, and shove wooden sticks up my nose for two weeks.
I didn't go back, and I still have the original issues. I'll just have to continue to live with it.

Flonase nasal spray has made spring a much more enjoyable season here in the Ohio Valley allergy belt. Two squirts in each nostril each morning and I can go about my day without the "zoned-out" feeling the pills gave me.
It's now available OTC.
Works for me😁
I made up my mind before I got out of his chair that I wanted no part of that procedure. Plenty of folks on here told their horror stories and that made my decision easy.

My dad had the sinutab or whatever mist it was addiction for a long time. It was crazy....you'd be watching TV and this horribly violent sound of something squirting (the high pitched whine) companied by the crazy loud snorting with NO warning. It was nuts. He finally quit. I can't do the mist thing because I relive all the trauma of suddenly having that happen over and over again....its like being water boarded. (Kidding) I really just don't like it.
Claritin worked until this year. It seems every year things progress to be worse and worse. I don't know what is blooming right now, but I'm guessing its all of those evil flowering pear trees that should all be burned to the ground anyway. They are the intrusive weed of the tree universe.
I'll have to see about getting some Claritin D.
My brother did have the sinus surgery done. It helped for some time, but I don't know if his issues have returned or not, he hasn't complained.
I should go get tested, but I'm afraid they'll tell me I'm allergic to my dogs....or something else I could never get rid of.
I had the surgery in 2008 and have had 0 issues with it. Best thing I did next to the shots.
Nasacort(no bug spray taste like Flonase) AND Neil meds sinus rinse. Use the salt water rinse EVERY day and extra after grass cutting or similar. Takes a little getting used to, BUT it will change your life!!!!!!!!!
I have never had the problem but know people who have. They seem to suffer terribly during the most beautiful time of year.
My sympathies to anyone who is afflicted by this malady.
Not me thank goodness but my youngest son it hits him like a train he had so many shots and so many sprays and pills over the years now closing in on 30 yrs old
He just gave up on it all and just puts up with it I try every year to have go back in and at least get some relief but he is stubborn I think I blessed him with that trate
LF I feel your pain. I go through the same thing every spring and fall. I tried a few years ago to go to the doctor to get some relief.
The doctor was real understanding. He said nothing he could do for me at “my age”.
They make em. Go get yourself one.
If you get one I would avoid eating any beans
Claritin is the least effective of the OTC allergy meds that I have tried. Allegra and Zyrtec are both way better for my seasonal allergies. Nasacort helps significantly too, but some don't like corticosteroids... me included.

Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
I can't take decongestants (blood Pressure). I tried prescriptions, a lot of them, finally found an OTC that works. Walmart's Equate allergy relief-Loratdine 10mg. DO NOT take more than 1 a day! As soon as I start snottin' and blowin', I start taking them. Aaaaah, relief!
Also, remember to change between two different types of 24 hour daily antihistamines about every six months. The body becomes tolerant and they loose their efficacy over time. I have found that when one decreases its ability to ward off the sneezes it is time to change.
Here in Missouri you have to have a prescription for Claritin-D. #1 is allergic to air. Her PCP was hesitant to prescribe it for her when she first moved up here. After a bad reaction (swollen face and hives over her body) the doc was practically tripping over herself getting the prescription to the pharmacy.
We have officially entered our annual tornado and mildew season so it will be rough for the next month or so.
Pollen is bad here now...but it is suppose to rain tonight.. 😀
I'm tried to de-doggy the house a little bit.....air the place out somewhat by leaving the downstairs windows open for a little bit. I lasted one hour before it all had to be shut back up. I keep reading that this year will be a bad one for people with allergies. I'm totally convinced its just going to progress each year into an unbearable mess where I'll have to put filters everywhere and yell at people to get the doors shut as soon as possible as they walk into the house.
