Now The EU says Their national security is a t risk? You suppose they are upping the ante now? Calling Putin a war criminal was the first card played! Don't you think? It's not going to be contain for long over there with tit for tat trade sanctions! Sooner or later NATO will be provoked or vice-versa!

President Vladimir Putin said Russia will start demanding payment for its natural gas shipments to states that it deems “unfriendly” in rubles, Interfax reported Wednesday.

Putin ordered the central bank to develop a mechanism to make ruble payments within a week, Interfax said. Russia has named the U.S., U.K. and members of the European Union unfriendly nations.

The Russian leader said it makes no sense to export goods to the U.S. or EU in dollars or euros, according to the news service.

Nothing but a way for Putin to try to prop up the crashing value of the ruble.

If he doesn't get his rampant inflation under control soon, someone will remove him from power. Probably it will happen in a manner that will leave little doubt about him ever being in a position to ever be a problem again. Old age is reducing the part of his population that yearns for a return to the politics of the U.S.S.R. A growing portion has become accustomed to the benefits of being more like the west. Odd that our leftist Bernie style dems are pushing us toward a version of communist style socialism and their political activists are pushing them toward a more capitalist based society. I guess this falls under the grass is always greener theory. Bob
