Tiger Woods and the Masters

varianvarian Member Posts: 2,258 ✭✭✭✭

Not a real big fan of golf but i do find the Masters interesting. i really wish Tiger hadn't returned to the masters. HIs being there has taken all the coverage away from all the other players. there will be a lot of good players there and several great players there but it will all be about Tiger.

Say what you want but he has to be tough as carpenter nails to even play at that level after the wreck. If you EVER or never get to Augusta you will believe in the eight wonder of the world. Spectacular..imo.

It will never be the same for me now that I know all the birds singing are just a soundtrack😉.

I can't even watch it because of all the orgasmic Tiger talk. He has ruined the Masters for me. I can only hope that he misses the cut, or - even better - suffers a devastating injury while playing. Yes, I know what that makes me for wishing it, but I cannot stand that SoB.

    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

I am a Tiger fan, but this is too much for me. Way too much. It is bizarre how much coverage they are giving to Tiger Woods.

I stand corrected, just watching it from the corner of my eye with the sound off, but 1/3 of the coverage today is Tiger.

No make it 50 percent, he hit a birdie and might be back in the running. There are still 25 guys ahead of him, but they are not interesting to ESPN.

  • Rocky RaabRocky Raab Member Posts: 14,438 ✭✭✭✭

Yup. Good thing they only show the announcers above the waist. Those wet crotches would be embarrassing.

As usual, the woke can't say anything without bringing race into it. Why isn't he the greatest Philippine golfer the world has ever seen?

  • JimmyJackJimmyJack Member Posts: 5,493 ✭✭✭✭

Watch him while you can, probably the best golfer there ever was and probably ever will be! You dont have to like him, but thats a fact.

  • NeoBlackdogNeoBlackdog Member Posts: 17,193 ✭✭✭✭

Ssshhhh! What are you thinkin'? Don't post that on an open forum or they'll be on it like white on rice! (White rice, of course, not that brown stuff.)

With his money what I can't understand is why he don't have a chauffeur. In his heyday he could put a golf ball in a hole better than anybody. Now he is just TV ratings material. His son looks to have talent, so I look for Tiger to play in the Master with him before long.

  • Sam06Sam06 Member Posts: 21,244 ✭✭✭✭

He use to be a great golfer.

But he is a despicable human being.

One thing can be said everything wrong with him is his own doing. No one held him back.

Tiger is a two faced idiot. I hope the wheels fall off of his come-back.

  • allen griggsallen griggs Member Posts: 35,619 ✭✭✭✭

He is way back, probably 15 shots out of first. No way he can win but he gave it a good try.

  • Rocky RaabRocky Raab Member Posts: 14,438 ✭✭✭✭

I tuned in for a while today. It was nauseating the way they televised every single shot he made, despite being as much as 18 shots off the lead. And then they had to interview him afterwards. Can you name ANY other player they interviewed after finishing 18 shots off the lead? No.

On a positive note, it was absolutely heartwarming to see Harold Varner III playing. A Black player at the Masters, with a White caddie. Love it. Some things really do get better.

rocky not sure that is better but i do understand the irony of the situation. each of those jobs are very important in a golf tournament.

  • JimmyJackJimmyJack Member Posts: 5,493 ✭✭✭✭

I think Tiger is 44. He is competing with guys half his age. Why do you think the crowds were lining the fairways. They are there to watch him make history. He can be 18 shots out and they still want to watch him.

The Golden Bear used to beat the pants off of boys half his age. He also won 18 majors which is 3 more than the tiger. He won the '86 Masters at 46 years of age.

Jim,l love TIGGER from 'Winnie The POOH'. The golf week not so much. l have lived thru this golf madness for the last 50 yrs. Landed in this town 1972 after Viet Nam. April golf week rolls around, Gas goes up 10-15cents a gallon. Restaurants add 50% to the tab. Motels simply add an extra ZERO. Wife's family is mourning Aunt Barbara's passing last week. Barbara's TWO golf tickets PASSED away too🙄

Monday cant come too soon. All the crowd will be GONE. The golf tigger TOO🤗

I hear ya, fatcat. I would not want to be a resident of Augusta - unless I could sell parking space and run a shuttle to the course.

You are certainly correct about the prices. We stayed at a Comfort Inn in 2018. Those are usually pretty good hotels. Not yours. It was a dump. In our room, the hair dryer had been ripped off the wall and stolen; neither replaced nor repaired. No comp breakfast, no extras of any kind. For $300 a night.

    Not a tiger fan, but........

I understand that, in the past, he could draw in 50% more ad money for the players pot.....maybe more.

There's been "lower" players, in the past, that have stated he helped put their kids through college. That's because GOOD prize money extended way down the finishers list....when HE played.

I find it interesting that he held all the "money people" in suspense.........all week........right up to tee-time.

JMHO.........overall.......he'll never equate to a Jack, Arnie, or Gary.

I'll watch today, but not until late in the afternoon, when Woodsie will be off the course. And hopefully off the tour for good.

Its a beautiful day if I’m doing anything with golf I would be hitting a ball, not watching it.

Tiger is a human & good or bad he has done many things that humans do.

I know I wouldn’t have wanted to live under the public microscope he does.

I wish the dude well, though I’m pretty much indifferent to pro sports, let alone professional golf.

OK...........who is the joker that gave me a disagree for calling Tigger two faced? He is a philandering idiot and a drug addict who wrecked his car and almost lost his leg. He came back because of his money for the medical care and he didn't get charged with DUI because..........well, he is Tigger. All the while he tries to maintain a goody two shoes media image. Give me a break.

    Give me another disagree.

Don't feel bad @mohawk600 I got one too.

Tiger is where he is right now due to his choices and actions.

I’d as soon watch paint dry than watch golf.

  • Rocky RaabRocky Raab Member Posts: 14,438 ✭✭✭✭

Woods finished near to last place. I'll tune in after a bit longer. Have to wait until the commentators have a chance to change into dry panties and the simpering sycophancy subsides.

Great golfer, very few people in the world could compete with him and beat him. And he has played at the top level for about 25 years!

  • allen griggsallen griggs Member Posts: 35,619 ✭✭✭✭

Interesting match, Smith was in the running, and then he hit a triple bogey. This course puts the heat on an athlete like nothing else in sports. The badasses prevail and, wimps go home.

  • Rocky RaabRocky Raab Member Posts: 14,438 ✭✭✭✭

jimmy, about 50 men beat Tiger this weekend.

The best part of the Masters, was it took priority over the Oscars fiasco for a few days.

  • Smitty500magSmitty500mag Member Posts: 13,623 ✭✭✭✭

The old tiger finished in 47th place. Looks like 46 men beat him this weekend and not just a few.

  • pulsarncpulsarnc Member Posts: 6,495 ✭✭✭✭

Never been a fan ,I know just enough about the game to appreciate how hard it can be.The talent needed to play at that level is beyond 99.9% of us.Yes ,Tiger has made bad choices but gotta give him credit .He is a hell of a golfer

cry Havoc and let slip  the dogs of war.....
  • JimmyJackJimmyJack Member Posts: 5,493 ✭✭✭✭

You forget those are the top golfers in the world. 47 is like a pimple on the sun. You dont have to win, but to compete at that level is a feat in itself.

  • Sam06Sam06 Member Posts: 21,244 ✭✭✭✭

And in the end he had to bring up rayce....................................
