Just watched some videos were cars pull in front on Semi's and break! WTH! Do people real do this or was this more BS that so prevalent on the scene today😜

I drove a Ford tri axle dump truck a long, long time ago and yes, they do.

A driver related how a woman changed lanes in front of him & then slowed abruptly to turn into a mall. He followed her & asked why she did it & she said, "with all those tires, you should be able to stop quickly." There was no use in explaining the weight/brake ratio so he just shook his head & walked away.

People do it frequently to the Big Rigs. Stupid civilian drivers.

Break? You mean they had a mechanical failure?

    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

That was my take, maybe they want the big truck to "push" them to the nearest Auto -Zone.

For sure, Rocky. When I break something I usually I don’t have to check anything. I know it’s broken!

Speaking of break checkers. I was sitting in the office one day with my feet up on my desk and the boss walked by and said "ya taking a little BREAK are you? He thought he had caught me goofing off and I said yeah it's called LUNCH! His face got all red he was embarrassed and I laughed at him as he scurried off like a rat. He wanted to make sure everyone knew he was in charge. Everyone in the group hated that guy. Only in the government could someone like him get promoted.

I will admit I did it once about 30 + years ago

I was on the way home from work doing the speed limit 50 mph or so a dump truck pulled right out in front of me off a side road

I had to brake hard to not hit him . I was in my pick up . so I passed him I knew there was a intersection ahead with a red light so I stopped at the light as it was red I started rolling thru as the light went green all the time watching him in my mirror he was building up speed to get thru the light also that's when I hit my brakes stopped DRT . he had to go into panic mode lock up his brakes started honking and waving his single finger salute . so I just retuned the favor and went on about my business . it was just a return the favor moment

I am always aware of big trucks give them plenty of room to turn never cut them off why make it harder than it is I had friends who drove and rode with so I know how it is , .

the one exception the one time I post above about the fellow was not paying attention rolled right out in front of me and caused me to about hit him . call it road rage short temper revenge what ever I was mad 😡

yup you were MAD so you took the chance to kill someone , maybe the driver ,( you have no way to know how he was going to react, he could have drove off the road to keep from hitting you and over turned , getting killed ) yourself ( what if he hadn't stopped and ran right over you ? ) or some body that was behind both of you , ( you never know how others will react to what is happening in front of them )) real smart NOT

what he did was wrong,, no doubt about that but what you did , you deserve to have a boot up your back side

Not going to dog pile you but honking the horn at idiots that cut you off also works.

I was young not a excuse but I was easy to get ticked off dumb yes and thinking about it it was over 40 years ago I was about 20 I am now 65 yrs old

Honking a horn and flipping some off is like sending a form letter to any politician means nothing

I done that many times over the years solves nothing I stopped that many years ago no one cares if you honk and wave your hands

But him having to actually react he will never forget

Yes I regret doing it and only once in my life did I do such a thing No use in beating a dead horse I will wager more than I on this forum have done similar

  • GrasshopperGrasshopper Member Posts: 16,984 ✭✭✭✭

I don’t even honk a horn and darn sure don’t flip someone off, I don’t know to me it serves no purpose. I go along and just drive, not everyone’s cup of tea but

If you go to brake-checking vehicles on the road, or if you have a habit of flipping off rude drivers, your behavior is going to get you. There are some wacky drivers out there, angry at the world, some could kick your butt with fists, and some have loaded guns, but you keep up the aggression on the road, you will get your day of reckoning. And you might just wind up in jail for your trouble, Or, you might wind up in the morgue.

You also could wind up on the wrong end of a big civil lawsuit, in which case you will be tied up in legal Hell-Land for years, and even if you win, you will pay tens of thousands in legal fees. All for the "satisfaction" of shooting a bird at some rude jerk on the road. What are you, 12 years old?
