What are your core working guns?

drobsdrobs Member Posts: 22,620 ✭✭✭✭

I own lots of guns but these are my core guns that I grab to travel, hunt with, shoot things that need shooting, use for home defense, and carry.

1. CCW - Ruger LC9s Pro, Glock 43x, & Glock 19.

2. HD and travel - Windham AR15

3. Deer Hunting - Savage Axis 270

4. Shooting things that need to be shot / Killing varmints around the house - NEF .410 single shot.

5. Plinking w/ a 22LR - S&W Model 17

Funny thing about the Savage Axis in 270 win is, I've yet to kill a deer with it. This last year I hunted with it but was skunked. The previous year I killed a Deer with my Savage Scout Rifle in 308. The year before that I killed a Deer with my Windham AR15. All 3 years I did hunt with the 270 Win Savage Axis. Main reason is it's really accurate and light weight.

    Ruger 77/17 for yard varmints.

Have a lot of shotguns (too many) but gravitate toward my faithful Browning 525 the most.

Haven't hunted western deer in a few years but either my 270wsm or my 300wsm model 70 Winchesters.

Michigan deer probably 300 Savage mod 99.

Plinking pistol for the aforementioned leaves a High Standard Trophy.

    My carry guns are:

S&W 340PD .357 Mag snubby at just a little over 11.5 ounces including Crimson Trace laser grips.

Most of the time I have my Kel-Tec P-3AT .380 that weighs just under 7.5 ounces on me no matter what other gun I may be carrying.

And if I'm out walking in the woods headed over to grandma's house, which is not very often anymore, I have my 4" S&W 500 Mag on me in a shoulder holster. And it's not so light.

When I go Grizzly hunting which is never I use my trusty old deer rifle a sporterized Remington 03-A3, .30-06. The receiver was made in 1942.

When I'm out on patrol and protecting the country while shooting commies left and right I use my "ASSAULT RIFLE" a Windham AR-15. It's big and black and makes liberals pass out at the sight of it. It's no wonder they want them banned! This one even has a laser sight which makes it even more deadly. Oh the humanity! 🙄

High Standard HD Military for pests, Hellcat on my hip, and an AR for the rest. Rarely ever shoot anything else. I really need to change that.

CCW: Ruger LCR or Colt Defender

    Camping: Ruger Montado/Marlin 1894 + Mossberg 500

Home defense: Mossberg 500 + Colt Commander

    Plinking: Ruger 10/22 & Ruger SR22

Enemies of armed self-defense focus on the gun. They ignore the person protected with that gun.

BTW "commies" are Peter and Paul's brand of religion/Israeli nationalism. What Russia and China did years ago was State Capitalism.
