Serial # on TC Encore Rifle

My SIL has one he intends to take to Canada for a spring bear hunt and needs the serial # for the border guards. Where is the number on those things? On a quick look (it's in camo) I didn't see anything on the receiver in plain sight where I expected to find it. Do you have to remove the stock or the barrel or otherwise have to take the thing apart to see the number?

I believe it should be on top of the frame, behind the hammer. Bob
Look at photo #20 - serial # behind the hammer - Best Regards - AQH

Thank you, gentlemen, you've been very helpful. Since he is not a reloader, I put together a load for him (.45/70) consisting of Speer 350 gr. FN, 47 gr. IMR4198 in new Starline cases. The load chronographs 2015 fps for 3156 ft/lbs @ 10' from the muzzle of my 26" barrel Siamese Mauser. Five shot groups from my rifle average 1.97" @ 100 yds. The barrel length of his Encore is similar. He has low power Leupold on his rifle. I think that will be a pretty decent bear load.
Some while back there was some Blue Falcon Bullets - 45-70 - 300 grain - 9-medium hard - paper patched bullets for sale on GunBroker auction side. I bought several boxes. I don't know about bear - but they will definitely work on any antlered game in north America.

AQH: Thanks for the suggestion. He has some cartridges he bought with cast bullets and seems reluctant to hunt with them. He is no newbie and has some impressive trophies. His bear hunt is supposed to be next month. I'll post again if he has ant luck.
I have 45/70 is all sorts of rifles, a bolt SMLE is one I like, including the T/C Contender and Encore. T/C says "Lever action" loads are OK for the Encore and the above is in that territory, even a bit below max. Should be fine on anything in the continental US.
