We have an appointment scheduled with a Rep from ADT Solar. Anyone know anything about them?

Will take approximately (10+) years to start seeing any kind of a savings. Our company was charging 15/20k for an average size house.

Biden and Kamel might give you a good government subsidized rebate for the install.

I was sitting out by the swimming pool at Mom and Dad's house one spring day and asked them why my sister wasn't in the pool yet. My Dad said it's to cold and it cost to much to turn that dang gas heater on. The pool was sitting really close to his large detached garage. I said Pop, why don't you paint that metal roof black on this side of the garage and run a line from your pool pump across the roof ridge with holes in it like a soaker hose and let the sun heat your pool because it's aimed in the perfect direction for the sun. I told him that water dribbling down that hot metal roof will be steamin' by the time it reaches the gutter and you can run a pipe from the gutter to the pool and let it gravity feed.

A couple weeks later I stopped by and he had done it and the pool was like a sauna. It worked really well.

A few years later when he built his retirement home he put in a pool and built a foundation with a slanted roof on it especially for heating the pool like at the old house except he had upgraded with a plexiglass or Lexan or some type glass cover over the black metal. He had some friends there and they were complimenting him on his great idea for heating his pool. I looked at him and he never even let on that I had given him the idea. I just rolled my eyes and went in the house and visited with Mom. 🙄

You need to consider the PAYBACK time and usually by then it's obsolete or weak.

Solar panels do not last forever and battery banks are even worse.

At one time, about 15 years ago, you could do an install & get rebates/credits from government agencies & the utilities; those days are now gone.

Real estate agents have told me solar makes it difficult to sell a house, due to fear of big costs to fix problems.

If your current roof isn't nearly new, you will want to re-roof before you install any panels.

Some local governments now require that you leave a 2' clear path at the roof peaks & along the edges, so that firefighters can ventilate the roof in the event of fire. Firefighters will hesitate to ventilate if they have to remove panels.

Firefighters hate the dang things . Hard to put out when they short and catch fire not to mention the shock hazards . You also have to consider that re- roofing requires hiring a company to remove and reinstall the panels after the roof is done . Roofers will not remove them . I have taken several fire related courses about them over the years . I am yet to be convinced that the economics work out .ps been a firefighter for almost 40 years .

I have been researching solar for a few years now. I will be 100% Solar Power when I start building my house. I just finished up the shed for the solar components, and the solar setup will be coming within a year.

One thing I've learned: ABSOLUTELY DO NOT PUT YOUR PANELS ON THE ROOF! Doing so, you'll lose ANY savings you had the first time you need to re-roof! If you can't put them on the ground, don't bother, unless you like breaking even, or barely making any money at all.

Any feedback on the company ADT Solar?

The ADT security company purchased SunPro Solar in December of '21 and became ADT Solar. As a company ADT Solar has a pretty short track record, about 5 months. It looks like SunPro's management team will stay in place to run it for ADT.

Thanks! I have talked with a Sun Pro rep. My average monthly bill is $160. Their deal was $220 per month for 20 25 years. Big savings, right?
