Genesis Arms Gen12 upper is here
Out the door at 2325 and I see couple of boxes laying there. I'm not quite awake but I know I wasn't expecting anything. Looked and saw the larger and heavier box was from Genesis Arms. I thought to myself damn four grand left at the door by the lazy ups thrower. Then the next shocking bit was and it's still here. I was up until like 1230 and since I wasn't expecting the upper for another 6 weeks (quoted 8 weeks) I went to bed.
Since I was on my way to work I just popped the boxes in the house and left. Now I had issue where the ups claimed to have delivered a JP Enterprises "Roller Trigger" ($300) that I didn't have in my hand. Now those morons left four grand worth of goodies at the door. that reminds me I need to get a Captured Recoil Spring with three tungsten rings from JP. Anyways since I wasn't expecting this for another 6 weeks it wouldn't have been missed for a long, long time.
Can't wait until I get a peek later today.
Now I need to get a cushiony butt stock. I was glancing through Recoil magazine where the article indicated the Gen12 "kicks like a mule". Since I got a Magpul PRS and I'm wondering if they have a Kick Eez or Limbsaver for them? Time for shopping.

So I got to play around a bit (just fitment and looksie) yesterday after work. Upon opening the boxes I found a pair of lowers which I did not order. First I thought I got someone else's order. While looking at the lowers it turned out to be 80%-ers. Still didn't order them and they weren't listed on the invoice. good thing they had their phone number on the invoice so I called them to let them know about the lowers. After speaking to them the lowers were "freebies" with the purchase of the uppers. Nice of them but wish they put a note in the package since I thought I had to deal with returning hassle.
On to my what I found review. My lower is Aero and there is a lot of day light in the rounded corner area but at least the pins line up. A little wiggle between the upper/lower but I can turn the screw in the lower to tighten up the slack. Being a shotgun we'll see if that's a need. The barrel moves "back and forth" like a Barrett so that was interesting. So no forearm swapping.
The 10 round magazine is tight in the Aero lower (might need to be sanded?). I'll need to check to see if it's the same issue in their 80% (having them on hand will make this check helpful). Didn't think about this until like right now. I think marathoning "My Name Is Earl" slowed my brain. The magazine makes the rifle look redonculous. Make me want a drum
Cosmetics. It's okay. A bump marks here and there and missed bits of anno on the rail and the muzzle brake "shredder" end has burrs or maybe its dings when they were being cranked out they were dropped in to a catch bin. For some people having spent $1700 that might be an issue. Since I was thinking about rattle can camo on her, eh.
Now the important bit. Naming her. Being Genesis and having a jumbo "A" on the magazine well I thought Adam but that's not a girl's name. Maybe the "A" will be silent in A'Lilith?
The magazine slides in and out better in the 80%. Took the magazine catch that was included in the "Beef Up Kit". It had a bevel on the catch and it made a slight improvement but not better as the 80% receiver. Also all the youtube videos about the Gen12 the magazines drop free. Wish it worked like Magpul magazines.
I'll have to see if there are other makers who make 12 gauge 10 round magazines for AR10 lower.
Sounds like a little fitment and you will be good to go
Nice to get the free goods but odd they failed to say anything
Good luck with the project
So there is this second "rib" in front (AR's got one in the back) on the magazine I took some sand paper to and that made the fitment issue go away. I did enough so if the magazine is at 6 o'clock position it will drop freely sometimes. I figure it'll wear some eventually. As needed I'll do the rest of the magazines.
