A bow hunting question from a non bow hunter

So I've always been interested in bow hunting.
But I live in the arctic, where there is open snow covered tundra as far as the eyes can see.
So how does a bow hunter get close enough to his target when there is no brush or trees?
My assumption would be to use rolling hills as defilade and cover, and then kinda... Hoping the animals get close enough to you while your are camouflaged?

I have read that the Eskimos would form funnels of rock piles that imitated humans and hide at the mouth of the funnel to shoot the caribou as they passed thru. Definitely an issue bow hunting in the wide-open spaces.
Hmmm. Okay, so they prepped in the summer
