Should these lines be crossed, or do I have it all wrong?
The wife’s grandson is getting married this coming August, and the wife said that his fiancée is having a wedding shower, and I said that’s good, but then she said that I was also to attend. I told her that men don’t go to wedding showers, then she said that all these other woman that will be there are bring their husbands, again I said men don’t attend wedding showers. Then she said that times have changed, true times have changed, but I’m not going to no wedding shower. I mean what is next, you have to bring your fiancée now to your bachelor parties?
Maybe I’m wrong but to me somethings are sacred, in that men don’t go to wedding showers. So I’m asking this question here because I know some of you here are as old and traditional as I am. I’m NOT GOING.——- This is where your all suppose to jump in and have my back, tell me I’m right.

Men don’t go to wedding showers or baby showers.
These are female events. Just like bachelor/stag parties are men events.

I have been to "Couple's Wedding Showers".....The wife to be got the usual items. We gave the husband to be tools, sporting goods and useful things !!!
I have never attended a baby shower, but have been know to send proper gifts. I sent pink camo bib overalls to the shower for my granddaughter. A young lady needs proper attire ! 😁
Pass ... but I had t.o do a search... Seems the parties are " girly "

Just tell her to bring you a plate of food.
Wait until you have to go to a " gender reveal. "
@waltermoe .......If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!! Just go, you will survive it, and it will be a LOT less stress than you will get from the Mrs for the next TWENTY years!
Just sayin😁😎
P.S. I have been to sister in laws shower, because my WIFE asked me to go. I know better than to step on a visible land mine!🥺😬
Mike55 speaks from experience and a bit of wisdom. A happy wife makes for a happy life. If the grandson shoots, hunts or fishes then it might be appropriate to get his fiance something along those lines. After all she just might like doing those activities with her new husband. Make the best of an awkward situation. Bob
It's bad enough that men have to go to the wedding! Don
Seems to be a generational thing . Those in our age range 60 plus generally don't go to showers . Young ones 20 to 30s now make it a everyone goes event .
....If the word "shower" is used, its not for guys....playing the wedding shower game "Whats in your purse?", just dont work for me...
I'm thinking there are some ladies that were invited that aren't going. Fake an injury. Tell them you have to change the oil in the truck. You already have an appointment. Meeting the guys at Lowes....😉
Went to a bachelor party awhile back, about ten men. The future bride was there , attached to the guy like a tick. My buddy said, it won't last five years. He was wrong, it didn't last two.
A shower" is for women", at least around here. Times haven't changed, the thought process or lack of has.
This is more of the overall effort in America to Feminize the men. To make the guys act like the girls do.
Don't go to that wedding shower.
And if you lie about an injury to get out of it, then you are a sissy and a wimp. Just tell the little lady, "No. I am not going. Going to drink a beer and watch a baseball game on ESPN. Y'all girls, have fun at the party."
What Joe said.
Best answer of the Day....
OMG....the very worst event you can EVER attend is an old school shower. I'm very thankful those days are over. Sitting around praying for someone else to say "well, I've got to go" so you can dart out the door behind them. Everything drenched in pastel colors with enough lace to make burkhas for everyone that attends. The modern version is WAY better. Its like a barbeque where everyone you want to be around can come....and you bring gifts! Its great....you should go. If you just want to torture yourself sometime sneak into one of the "women only" events and you'll see why prozac was invented.
It'd take a six up team of horses to drag me there. And then I'd invoke my right to fart and scratch my ba,,,butt as needed.
Go to the shower.
After 15 minutes or so you will be able to determine whether you should be there - or not. If you determine you should not be there, start doing "things" so the ladies will understand why you should not have been invited.
Hint: Drive separate vehicles, so you can leave and the missus can stay. Don't be surprised if the missus doesn't come home until "later".
What HPD said, but don't tell my wife....
If you cave in and attend with your wife, you will have to surrender your man card or have it forcibly removed from your person and banned from the forums for life.
Sorry ......... that's the rules.
All this reminds me of my old refrain...........
"That's my story........and I'm stickin' to it.....................................dear!!"
Thanks bullshot you convinced me, and I love starting the day out with a good laugh. It ‘s really not the wife so much as she knows and understands me, it’s the bride to be that is young with these new Ideas. At 72 I’m still old fashioned and I don’t see any reason to change now. If his fiancée confronts me I’ll be honest and tell her the truth, your a nice young lady and welcome to the family,———-BUT I’M NOT GOING TO NO DAM BRIDAL SHOWER. Thanks everyone for the support and advise, you all have a nice day now.
I'd tell her I can't go, I'm having cramps......
I was in the same boat this weekend. I told my wife no, she was good with because she knows me well. She said you might have fun and I told he I doubt it. I went a played golf and had fun.
I agree with @allen griggs there are a lot of activities today that try to feminize men and this one of them. BTW there were 4 guy/ husbands there and all were in their 20-30's.
You're being subpoenaed for a gift. That's all.
Hadn't you heard? They're letting the kids decide.
Son got married in March. She had a shower, and my wife went and dragged me along, it was a long drive.
12 Women, 2 not so masculine guys. And 6 assorted Husband and boy friends
I went out back with the other 5 guys (yes some showed up) and sat around the fire pit with the cooler full of Beer.
Like the T-shirts say "Old Guys Rule"
I think you are on to something there allen!!
Will there be strippers? Female born and not made female stripper? If no then I'd also will not attend.
Seems some of you are taking the wrong attitude.
Wife wants to drag you to place where you can . . . "observe" nubile young females? Possibilities are endless. . .
Yeah... Endless. Run to the end of your chain and bark. Bark too loud and your wife smacks you upside the head.
Endless...
I tell my wife that I'll go when it is a real shower!! I mean I want to see the young nubiles take a shower (like soap and water). She leaves me at home, and just smiles!!
I agree Walter, however:
Times have changed: Men are not supposed to use women's restrooms and women are not supposed to use men's restrooms, but thanks to Obama and the DEMOCRATs.... its now OK.
