My Dad was born that same year. The difference between them is Dad fought in WWII.

As far as the Dukes lack of WW2 service, my dad was born in 08 and served in Europe. He was the oldest guy in his outfit and could have had a deferment but enlisted anyway. He was also a fan of John Wayne and I never heard him disparage the Duke for not enlisting. Bob
