Local gun store had plain jane,no frill Rock Island GI on sale for less than 400 OTD.I bought one and its been in the safe for a couple of months.Took it out today to put it through the paces and I am impressed.100% reliable with my 225 gr cast hand loads and 185 gr Hornady XTP.Shot about 60 rounds at 20 yard and could cover the group with the palm of my hand.I have had 1911s that I have paid more for but needed tweaking before they would be reliable and somewhat accurate.I was a little skeptical about all the good things I have read about Rock Island 1911s,but I was wrong.

I have a Rock Island 1911 that I have shot about 400 rounds through with nary a hiccup.
Would not hesitate a minute to rely on my RI 1911 to protect life and limb. Several thousand rounds of all types of .45 ACP without a failure to go bang.
Same here, great guns for the money.
The "other" Norinco. Good stuff from what I heard and at $400 that's pretty good.
I've had two Rock Islands and currently have one of their Officer 1911's. They have been 100% reliable. I think they are a great pistol for the price.
Now, my Brother spent almost three times a much on a Kimber that has had several jams while it was "breaking in"..
Speaking of Rock Islands, anyone tried the 1911, .22magnum?
have 2, 9mm/.22tmc & .40 cal. both good guns
Their 22 mag works well.
