Special wood on a Winchester pre-64? 1954

peepawpeepaw Member Posts: 17 ✭✭

This gun was owned by a Korean war sniper. He supposedly ordered it special when he got out of the service. He had several VERY nice rifles. This one has VERY figured wood and the barrel is matte, like the receiver. I would guess the stock could be custom but the finishing at the butt plate, etc. are exceptional. Anybody know about custom orders of this era?

Long way from giving advice but I think Winchester has a department that will research and provide a letter on the rifle not sure what it cost but adds greatly to have such a letter for the gun
