No Good Deed Goes Unpunished...
No better example than this one. My next door neighbors that have been taking care of my lawn since June was sick with cancer and I came down with the ruptured artery in my heart the morning she died have been mowing our lawn during my recovery. The last time they were going to mow since I'm a lot better now Dorthy, Jeff's wife, was mowing on their riding mower near the road in front of my house and a rock or stick came flying out and hit a passing car that made a small dent in the side of it.
No way was I going to let them pay for the damage because they were trying to help me and had been for over 2 years so it cost me $600 bucks for the dent and I gladly paid it and would pay what ever price it required so they wouldn't have to. They felt bad about it and Jeff said Dorthey should have known better than to be mowing with traffic coming and I told him Dorthey was only trying to help so lets don't blame her for any of this. She feels bad enough as it is. He said you're right she has been taking it pretty hard. I told him to go give her a big hug for me. Jeff and Dorthey are my best friends and so were they June's. They were here with me the morning June died. They were taking it as hard as I was and were praying and crying along with me. Jeff said the most beautiful prayer I've ever heard that morning and if God didn't hear that one he's deaf.
I saw Jeff today and we talked awhile and he had his pickup truck loaded up with some tools. I ask him where he was going and he said one of the older ladies at their church that her house was falling into disrepair and needed the gutters cleaned out to start with and that he and his son were headed over to help her out.
I could call him or Dorthey right now at 1:45 AM and ask them for help doing anything in this world and they'd be at my door before I hung up the phone.
They have been an inspiration in my life even in my old age. Someone mentioned to me that they were a black family and I told them I had never noticed because they just looked human to me. More human than anyone I know of as a matter of fact. They are the model of a family that any human race should try to be like. I'm afraid I fall far short. No matter what wars there maybe in the future if they're coming through our neighborhood Jeff and I will be on the same side. I can promise you that.

Nothin' better than good friends. Even more so if they're neighbors. I envy you, and them.
You are blessed having them as friends. There kind is far and few between these days.
