Coming home from town today I ran over a turtle. Fortunately for him, he went between my tires. I turned around and pulled up next to him, got out and ushered him to safety. This makes up for the one a few years ago that wasn’t so lucky.

Looks like a happy little buddy.
Good Job.
I bet it's happy it didn't become a speed bump! I had to watch carefully today while I was riding around on the mower because it is the time for them to be wandering all over the yard. Along with a bunch that look like the little feller in your pics, we have a few snapping turtles in the pond. No sign this yet this year of momma snapper burying her eggs in the yard, but it should be any time now. I try to find where she lays her eggs and cover it up before the raccoons, possums or skunks dig them up. One batch a few years ago yielded over fifty baby snappers. Not sure if any made it but they all got released into the pond. Bob
What kind of turtle is that?
asphalt crossing turtle... @allen griggs ..
"Softshell" painted turtle?
had a small snapping turtle, about the size of a basketball on the tee box at golf course today, he didn't really want us playing through, went after the first fellow who walked up close him, took 3 of use beside him before he wandered off the side of the box........
looks like a painted turtle to me and good for you saving it life
as a kid I remember the five and dime stores sold them along with gold fish with no instructions on taking care of them untold numbers had to be killed off by kids not knowing any better put in a little plastic bowl that some what resembled a island with a small space in the middle for them to get on out of the water
They are all (painted) over the place here in Wisc.
He was about 5” across and 7” long. Not sure what kind he was.

I heard they taste like chicken.
Is turtle soup healthy?
Not only that, turtle soup is said to have multiple health benefits such as the detoxification of blood, lowering blood pressure, increasing blood circulation and many more.
Yup! Our local Woolworth's sold those small, newly hatched painted turtles along with the plastic turtle pool. My younger brother had one and kept it alive for a couple of years feeding it fish food flakes.
The store quit selling them abruptly when it was discovered the turtles harbored salmonella.
