I feel like getting bagels and liverwurst today.

Learned Braunschweiger is smoked version of Liverwurst today (while looking for the correct spelling). I thought it was just a regional name difference. I may have to get both.

Don't listen to em' Yosh. A fresh pretzel bagel with a schmear of Braunschweiger sounds really good. Just a touch of mustard on it and a cold libation to wash it down is one of my favorite combos. Strangely though, that is about the only way I'll eat liver. Bob

P.S, Not sure how you spell schmear but it seemed appropriate to use that term when discussing bagels.

    ...Oy vey!..

...I will have a bagel w/cream cheese, or cream cheese & lox....BIG pass on "liver" anything...I don't eat organs...

I like bagels & I somewhat like liverwurst, but not together. Nothing like a REAL bagel from the no east. In sw Va they think a bagel is just bread baked in a circle. Even "wurst" are the prepackaged ones from the big bakeries.

I like  Braunschweiger. I just don't know how to spell it, so I borrowed and pasted your version yosh.

I can eat it sliced for a sandwich or my wife taught me a great recipe for a spread that would be excellent on a bagel.

Mush up a big chunk of braunschweiger and add a dalop of cream cheese. Cut up into tiny pieces a couple of green onions with the tops and mix it all together into a dip.

I also made this with sour cream when I was out of cream cheese and it was just as good as above!

We will be having liverwurst and baloney sandwiches this week. Wife just bought liverwurst yesterday.

Liverwurst is great; braunschweiger is even better. Either one with a healthy schmear of hot mustard and some white onion makes a fabulous sandwich on any kind of bread, even a bagel. A good dark brown rye is the classic, though.

You poor boogers with food aversions don't know what pleasures you're missing.

    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

well enough beers and maybe I would try it but for me an onion bagel is fine all on its own or a toasted bagel and butter.

I can eat most anything without issue, When i eat Braunschweiger I get heartburn and it is painfull. I have given up on eating it but I really like it. Nothing else does it to me. Enjoy it for me. 😁

Went to Safeway and took me to find it. One brand and it was pre sliced (Jones Dairy Farm's Braunschweiger) no liverwurst. I did find Bockwurst which I thought they no longer carried. I got a pair and now I know where they hide it. I remembered Whole Foods had good bagels so I stopped there. While there I looked for liverwurst. They had Wellshire Liverwurst (new to me) and they also had a different brand Bockwurst so I bought a pair for a taste test. Oh the bagels are now different or they might've been day olds. The ones I had before that were good had everything and salt. Salt which was unusual.

Got home, threw in a pan of water with bit of cilantro (out of celery tops) and bayleaves for the Bockwurst to warm. while warming I tried the Whole Foods Wellshire Liverwurst with sliced white onions. It's okay. Basically no real reason to go to Whole Foods. Actually the fish department had a nice varieties of oysters. First Kumamotos. Kumamotos on Monterey Bay. For you non oyster people they're these delicate, deep cupped litter slurpers. Sure they were $2.50 a pop and will cost a fortune to fill me up but they have them. That alone might make me go back. They also had Wellfleets which I never seen in my backwater area.

So Whole Foods Bockwurst was good but will it be better as Evergood Bockwurst? I don't know since I have history with Evergood brand.

Also you poor buggers who don't or won't try liverwurst/Braunschweiger more for me. The way things are going under biden you might have to eat it and learn to love it.

I will always wonder what that feels like.

Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain
