#3 and her family are living with #2 and her family while they build their home. Their mini dachshund, Cookie, hasn't adjusted well to the move and the chaos. Lots of potty accidents.
She has always been my shadow when I went to visit. She will stay here with me to see if I can get her completely potty trained. She was never 100% even before the move. So far, she has had one oops which was when I went to Bible study yesterday. It was the first time she has been home alone since we arrived.
She gets along fine with the cats and Shiggles. The goats freak her out.

Should go well with the Beagle hound.
I'm not Cliff Claven, but here's a little known fact. Dachshunds can make excellent deer dogs where that style of hunting is legal (fast becoming a lost art - sort of like a giant rabbit hunt). My uncle in Arkansas had a pack of dachshunds, and the new fellas would laugh at him when he showed up at deer camp. They soon quit laughing when they saw how well the dachshunds worked. They push a deer slowly and don't run it into the next county, allowing for good humane shots. There's a decent chance Cookie would love to run with Shiggles and friends, but might teach them to run trash game (deer).
she looks like Wendy one we just lost about a year ago nothing we could do to save her
we have owned many dachshunds over the years and we enjoy them we still have one he about 12 years old ( Butch )
they were bread as hunters and are very independent and stubborn as they were always out ahead of the people and had to make there own choices that shows up some times in there behavior and also are difficult and some never completely get house broke ,
we lost Wendy the girl wiener dog buddy of Butch last year ( another sad day and miss her ) she just a meek and sweet little dog , but I also seen her tear one of ducks apart in about 10 seconds ( and I do mean tear up as shred ) some years ago .
most all the wiener's have been mild mannered around people but Butch our current one well lets just say I am glad he is not a large dog
he has no fear ( another trait of there's ) he would jump on our 140 pound German Shepard ( lost him to heart problems a few years ago miss him greatly ) in a heart beat the only thing that saved him was Buddy was the most gentle dog my wife called him her gentle giant , he would just ignore or put a paw on butch to hold him down
Awww. And good luck.
It took us 2 years to completely housebreak our PBGV pup. She thought the light colored carpeted basement was an outdoor play pen!
I have tried just about every on the market concoction to remove those carpet stains to no avail. Learned that once you apply a stain remover following all the directions, if the remover fails (which it did), no other product will work either. The stain gets permanently set in. 😕
You are a good mom susie! For Taking care of your "grand-dog" 🤗
A good German dog. Kaiser Wilhelm always had a couple of dachshunds with him.
I miss this little guy
Helped me shop for my next gun from gunbroker alot
Smart dog. He knew where the good stuff was located.
@tnranger this mini dachshund is around four years old. The rabbits around here would whoop her butt.
@Brookwood after leaving her alone twice so far I have come to the conclusion she has separation anxiety. No issues as long as I'm here. Leave her alone for 30 minutes and she has an accident.
We have one of those houseguests. We have been watching our daughters/son in laws black lab/American bulldog mix for the last 3 years while he has been deployed overseas. They are due to rotate back this fall. I’m really gonna miss him.
Have you tried to use a crate?? I always housebreak using the crate method. I personally have never had a dog foul his crate.
IMHO, Crates are OK for house breaking training, overnight sleeping, and VERY short owner absences. I had my dogs in my car parked out front of the local ACE Hardware store. The checkout gal commented how nice I was for leaving the car running with full air conditioning going.
She told me she leaves her dog crated her entire full time shift at work!! I just bit my tongue and said nothing, but in my heart......some people should not own dogs!
