i grew up about 25mi from there on the Kanawha river. the Kanawha starts at the confluence of the New river and the Gauley river at Gauley Bridge just at the start of the New River Gorge. as a teenager i did a lot of smallmouth bass fishing all along those rivers. my dad had many stories about thurmond. after he met my mother and joined the church i dont think he went there anymore. during those times you had to ride the train to get there, someone must have built a road in there because i saw cars in the video.

I watched that yesterday. Somewhere in there it says 15 passenger trains a day went through there. It must have been a busy place.
