Got to dedicate this one to my S&W.

Nope - Springfield Armory - Omega - 6 inch - ported barrels - 10mm - 45 acp - 38 Super -thanks to an assist by bambihunter.
Best Regards - AQH
Nope # 2 - Eibar, Spain - Star MegaStar - 10mm - 4.6 inch barrel - not ported - 14 rounds double stack magazine - about 48 ounces - dry - loaded HEEAAVVYYY. I like leather - but nothing worked - pants were down around my ankles. I found a nylon holster that attached to belt and 2 (two) straps around mid-thigh - plus extra magazine place. Only thing that worked without pants being down around ankles. Not as ammunition sensitive as the Springfield Armory Omega in the 10mm configuration. Omega in 45 acp and 38 Super runs like a Singer sewing machine - yeah - I know many of you are not OLD enough to know what that is.
'bambihunter' said they worked well - so I got one - he was right.
If you happen to have extra 10mm MegaStar magazines you would be willing to sell at a reasonably OK price - please put them up on the auction side and private e-mail me and I well definitely bid.
Best Regards - AQH
The 1006 is my favorite. Tough and can take the heat of max loads,
Looks like I need to explain. To the right there is a column "Quick Links". I noticed under "My Discussions" the count was at 1076. That reminded me about my Smith & Wesson "1076".
I'll keep an eye out for MegaStar magazine in 10mm. Doubt I'll see it but who knows? Folks who bought 10mm are dying every day.
I dunno Yosh. For all those "folks who bought 10mm are dying every day", the pricing indicates a dozen new ones are being born. The original 10mm's are worth way more than they were originally. Of course leading that pack is the Bren Ten. I bought my first one in the mid to late 80's for ~$850 for the SM (standard model). About 2-3 years ago, I bought the SFL (Special Forces Light) model for $5k and now, even the SM model runs nearly $10k and better versions have sold for upwards of $25k. I used to give $450-$600 for my 3rd gen S&W 10xx series guns. Now, they bring ~$1,400 for many, and the last 1046 I have seen sold went for $7,500. I gave $850 for mine. Really, only the ones that either never had a following to start with, or never left production (Glock) have remained around the same value. Surprisingly, to me at least, is that the Parker Arms/Wyoming Arms/ I.A.I. Javalina has recently shot up in value. Having owned 3 of them, I found them to hardly shoot at all, let alone up. LOL
It appears we've diverted from the original topic, but if I were to rate 10mm's (and I own, have owned, or have shot dang near, if not all of them).
Favorite to shoot: Star Megastar. It is a joy to shoot and it fits my hands perfectly, This is a brute of a gun, it is so overbuilt that it makes the solid S&W 10xx feel wimpy by comparison. Think if Desert Eagle were scaled down for 10mm use.
Most accurate: This is a tough one and I'd probably have to call a tie between Dan Wesson Razorback (Pre-CZ) and Springfield Omega Match. They are both conventional 1911 type.
Best CCW: Glock 29. It needs no introduction...
Jack of all trades: S&W 10xx series. I have all 6 of the 10xx series. My favorite of this series is the 1076 with its frame mounted decocker.
Favorite to have: Bren Ten SFL and S&W 1046, both because they are extremely rare. I also really like my Dan Wesson Razorback 1 of 150 series. I believe I have 9 out of the original 150 produced.
Worst one I've had: I.A.I. Javelina long slide. As mentioned, I've tried 3 of them and none were reliable and worse yet, even though they were all long slides, none were even as accurate as my short barrel Glock 29.
bambihunter - You paid $5k for a Bren Ten? Basically a paper weight (I joke?). Collectors are silly folks, ain't they?
Divert away.
One I let slide relatively recent was a S&W 1026. Saw one for $1500 and no magazine 5 years ago? The no magazine didn't bother me but I couldn't pay that when I may have paid $500 for my 1076 15 years prior. But at least I know who owns her. Besides I just wanted the complete upper to swap in between with my 1076. Then again I would have begged Bar Sto to make me a 1006 barrel like they had in the past.
I wanted the Javalina but I was told about the "galling" so I skipped (I could have just slapped some butter and I would have been all good). I kind a kick myself every now and again for not getting the long slide. I wanted it for a pig gun but I got the S&W 610 instead. Also mounting a scope on the 610 was way easier than mounting on on a 1911 back then.
Yes I did Yosh. I do shoot it though. It is really too bad they were not more successful as they really are marvelous guns. I think if they would have had more capital at the time, they would have really taken off. Much like the S&W 10xx, they just check a lot of boxes. The 10 shot mag is not too thin, not too wide. Overall, great shooting guns. Mine is a bit finicky with ammo, but as it is a quite early example, I think it is likely the magazine. Those sell for $250+ if/when you can even find one and that was 5+ years ago. I haven't seen one for a while.
Bren Ten - Special Forces Light (SFL)
I do love the S&W line too. I've got all 6 models. My 1026 is a Virginia State Police model which does not have the mag disconnect, exactly like my 1076 FBI model.
Speaking of the 1076, make sure you've had the recalls done. Look for dots under decocker, and dot on the bottom of heel of grip. I don't have the notices handy or I'd post them...
Funny you mention your 1026 came out of Virginia. The one I saw came from there, too. Don't remember if it was department marked and I remember there was a mention it had 13 round magazine. I would like to have seen them.
A second 1076 which I sold to a friend of mine who wanted it I had my gunsmith remove the plastic magazine disconnect.
I had sent my 1076 back to S&W when the decocker went wonky. First I had my gun smith fix it but it went bad again then I saw the recall (I wanna say) 1999/2000? They didn't do the dimple which I am glad they didn't. I do wish they bead blasted the frame from the decocker dragging while they had her. I suppose I would have to have paid for that.
My 10's are the Buckeye Blackhawks. Got 2 of 'em.
