Win. m-1 carbine 'spring tube' ?

The early Win. m-1 carbines had a removeable 'spring tube' to enclose the action spring ;as opposed to all later carbines that had a 'hole' drilled directly in the receiver. In a recent parts purchase I got this part that I THINK is a 'spring tube'. Does anybody here have one to compair it to?? thanks
