Lovesac sofa...midway into this adventure, hopefully I'll have good things to say when its complete
OK...you guys love these stories, so here is my latest adventure.
Larry is a pack rat....so when my son moved out and we gave him our "well loved" sofa it left a hole in the livingroom. Larry has slowly packed in more crap in our house, nearly making it impossible to replace the sofa someday. We have a "new" vintage display case that he is chomping at the bit to fill with treasure. He thought we were just giving up on the idea of replacing our sofa......like heck....is what I had to say to that notion. I have grandbabies, holiday plans to fill this house with people and memories and I'm not about to have our livingroom be two recliners and wall to wall trinket displays.
We've always bought Lazyboy furniture because we like the quality....but my aunt bought some from them a while back and she is still waiting on parts of her order, almost a YEAR later. So, I'm not even pretending like I'll chance something like that happening.
I have been seeing the commercials for Lovesac and love the idea of the built in sound system, plugs and phone charging built into the arms. So, I drag Larry to one of their stores so we can check it out.
They have three different levels of cushion....firm, soft and dad-burn-it how am I supposed to get out of this thing soft. You buy seats and arms...they are rectangle shaped seats, so you can make your seats very deep, where you almost have to lean back for your feet to hit the ground or you can put it togethet like a normal sofa. You can get whatever cover type you can imagine....all colors, textures, and such you can think of.
So, its totally up to you how this goes...what pattern your seats end up being, color and what extras you want.
Larry wasn't hating it when he checked it out.....so, to keep the ball rolling in the direction I wanted I let him pick the color. Our house is dark, so we need all the light we can get. He chose an eggshell looking cream color. It was what the display had on it....which is why I think he picked it really.
About a week after we bought it the parts started arriving. Its odd....we got three sides, one seat and some covers first. Another seat came two days later, then the sound system....then more covers. Once I thought all of it arrived, I started trying to put it together. The base seat comes with the top part shoved into the bottom, so it looks like you just got a square box, but you pull the cushion out of the bottom and its like a magic act....you'd never imagine this big foam square just came out of this tiny hole.
This is when I realized they sent the wrong color covers for the arms. They were grey. I tell Larry that we got some covers that were the wrong color....then he replies, "yeah, who would order a white couch?" This is when I inform him that YOU DID.....YOU ordered white....the grey is the wrong color. He looks at me clueless and says "sure"....well, are we going with the grey or white? I leave it up to him and he says the white will make the room brighter. So, Larry has had two chances to not go with white....and has gone with white both times. He is stressing me on purpose at this point.
Here are some pictures of our progress, including some of Larry's displays

Daughter #2 bought 2 of their sofas last month. Her advice: assemble on site, they are too heavy to move after assembly.

Its all put together....finished it this afternoon. I love it. I think Larry will take it over and I'll still be in my recliner. Well worth having to put it together, which I wasn't all that certain I could do.
no leftover parts??????
Does Larry need some more antique cameras? I still have a few left over from my camera business.

I'm certain he would appreciate it....he can tell you about all of these things, but I know nothing at all about them. He was a photographer before we got married.
So how's the couch? Comfy? Is the sound system worth a toot?
My wife has told me that when I'm done using it for a shop the basement here will become my 'man cave'. I'll be looking for appropriate furniture. She's already nixed the idea of saddles on stands for seating...
We need more pictures, lol
I hate cell phone pics....you never know what your getting when you post or share them.
I'll get more asap.
IT IS AWESOME!!!! The sound system that is built into this thing is amazing. You feel like you are in a movie theater. Its well worth the expense.
Nice! That looks like a sofa with some substance!
I think if you left it to Larry your place would look like a museum......which is what my shop has resembled for 40 years.
Love the soda bottle openers pic.#4.
