Bought Me a New to Me Jeep
Well I bought it a couple of months back, couldn't pass up the deal 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with 48 K on it. Its got a 330 HP V8 5 speed auto, heated seats, heated mirrors auto start, moveable foot pedals and a ton of other crap for $ 10k. Then two weeks after I bought it the converter took a crap. Ended up taking it back to the dealer and it turned out it was under some warranty and I didn't have to pay a dime. Now if the converter goes again within 5 years I'll get another free one. Its a flex fuel vehicle that I will no longer be putting E-85 in. Oh by the way I still have the EXPLODER but I use it now as a truck. The exhaust needs to be replaced but I'm not spending $1,700 to fix it. Also the running boards are about to fall off and there's really not any metal to weld to. I'll probably put up for sale as drivable but sold for parts. The engine only has 38 K on it.

I just sold my 1995 Jeep Wrangler YJ.My wife loved the Jeep but it was a manual transmission and she couldn't get the hang of changing gears.Im in the market now for another Wrangler with an automatic transmission for the wife
congrats
I have always felt the need to get a older like CJ style but never got the bug bad enough to get one
when I was younger a local guy had one with a 402 ? If I remember well enough
he could pull the front wheels at red lights but he also had 3 or 4 buddies sitting in the back LOL but was still a fun jeep maybe a golden eagle version all black with the big eagle on the hood
Congrats
Congrats, You'll like the grand cherokee. We have had two in the past and both were great. I just purchased a new wrangler and this makes my 7th CJ or Wrangler model I have owned. Always liked Jeeps and Chevrolets's, especially Corvettes and Z28's

My only real complaint is the lack of storage space. In the Exploder I could put about 15 CD's in the center console in the Jeep I can put 4. Also the storage space behind the rear seat is less as well. A few weeks back we had to drive 40 miles round trip to get a replacement glass table for our patio set as the other one shattered from a wind storm. No way that would have fit in the Jeep but it fir easily in the back of the Exploder with one of the rear seats still up. Other than that I just love it and that thing always wants to go 110 more HP then the Exploder.
I had two jeeps that were fun, but too expensive to keep running.
It's a JEEP in name only. Any further comments will insult someone.
JEEP= Just Empty Every Pocket🙃
401..a buddy of mine has one..
I sold exhaust products to muffler shops for 22 years so I have a little advice for you. Cats don’t magically go bad on their own. If they didn’t fix what caused them to melt or break up it will just do it again to the new ones. Often times the cats aren’t even bad. With 10+ years on your Jeep it’s very possible it was just carbon buildup that kept the cats from lighting off and set the O2 sensors to give you the PO420/430 code. Carbon buildup can be cleaned out.
You also said your exhaust system needs replacing. If there’s cracked pipes in the system that can suck in extra oxygen and screw with the O2 sensors too. $1400 is nuts and if you go to any decent muffler shop you could have it replaced for less than that as long as they aren’t putting on fancy stainless steel.
Not being into Jeeps-A kid pulled in next to us today driving a jeep which looked like to me a VERY BIG vehicle. Tires looked like to be 4' in diameter (they really weren't)😮
Some of those Rubicon jeeps sell for over 80,000.00. Wow.
I had a 2000 Grand Cherokee. Loved that thing. Does yours have the 4.7L?
And fiery auto crashes

While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
The exhaust system that needs replacing is on the Exploder not the Jeep, that was one of the reasons I bought the Jeep $1700. was just to much to spend fixing the Exploder.
Why yes it does. 😃
The muffler shop that replaced the cats on the Jeep was the same one that replaced them the last time. I took it back to the dealer that I bought it from because I had only had it for 3 weeks. The dealer acted as the middle man and did nothing physically to the Jeep. Apparently they didn't even know the cats were still under warranty. When I went to pick up they just handed me the keys and didn't tell me nothing else. I thought that seemed kinda shady but at least it didn't cost me anything.
The best engine, IMO.

Why don't you take a picture of it. Enlarge the picture and every time you post we get to see it again and again.😉
Well that would just be rude! Don
Our '98 GC had the 318 V8.......good engine, except the rear main had a slow leak.
