well Hyundai has a new one also called the santa cruz. I saw one yesterday at the golf course it is a lot more rounded off and stylish than the maverick, almost reminds you of the old subaru brat, only bigger.........

Cool car, but I never understood the attraction of these body styles. Ford Sport Trac, Chevy Avalanche, etc.
gotta agree with you Jim, really what good is a 4 foot bed, bags of potting soil, or dog food, I think it is more I want a truck, but I like my car to much, kinda like el camino???? but to each their own, guess alot of folks don't understand the need for a full size truck
I love my ridgeline being how most of my driving is just to work and back with some hunting trips added in it has been all the truck that I now need
A small utility trailer would suffice just fine if your vehicle had the hitch for it.
I do still like the styling and looks of the old El Camino\Ranchero types but have grown to accept some changes as I grow older.
I said SOME changes! Not too many though! 😁
I never liked the Avalanche or anything like that with the plastic up around the bed. There is one around here that area in the bed been painted and it is quite sharp. The new Rangers look nice but I haven't been in one.
I drove a '98 extended cab 6.5' k1500 Z71 with 5.7 v8 to over 300k miles and retired it. Previously, we were flipping houses and remodeling ours and we used to have a camper that we pulled often, so we needed the heavier truck at the time. I was looking for another full size one when I stumbled across a 2019 ZR-2 Colorado that advertised front and rear locking differentials plus slightly lifted over the Z-71 models, and 3" wider with fender flares and rock sliders. We no longer had the camper and didn't need to haul as much any more so, those features sounded great for a couple reasons. One, I am in I.T. and if my site goes down, I am it. If it happens during bad weather, I have to find a way to get there. We have to pay huge fines for down time due to our SLA's. Second, while I don't offroad just to go offroad, I am of the age and health that I cannot drag a deer a mile back out of the section if I take one that far back. I could drive back in this, there are old tractor trails back there, my old truck could do it unless it had rained or snowed recently.
After comparing the Colorado to my old truck, the horsepower and torque were actually higher on the newer truck (3.7 v6 vs 5.7 v8), and I get nearly 10mpg better. Granted, a newer full size truck gets better mileage than the old one did too, but to get one fully loaded out like what I got, would have cost me an additional $10-12k. I bought my 2019 in 2020 with 7k miles. Tow limits were close, but the full size was a little better, but the ZR2 package of my newer truck reduces the bed capacity lower than a regular Colorado which was already lower than the full size. Chevy now has released a full sized version of the ZR2 in the Silverado.
I didn't get why they named their Ranchero "Maverick" "Top Gun" tie in? Or Ranchero not PC? Anyways I don't get these tiny truck beds. Practically useless. They really should make mini trucks again.
I remember the original Ford Maverick--what a POS.
I've had two Avalanches, loved them both, I would be driving my third Avalanche if they hadn't stopped making them.
Bed had plenty of room and opened up all the way to the dashboard if needed.
My Silverado only has a 5.5 foot bed, the Avalanche was much bigger.
I have seen two of them in the last week. Not a bad looking vehicle, I figure it would be a good idea to wait a couple years to make sure they work any bugs out...
the 'new' Maverick is the 'old' ranger. the 'new' ranger is nothing but a f-150 on a diet. I bought a Maverick this year, nice truck (light) and would buy another.
Squeezed a 427 SOHC in one. Of course some bracing was added or it would have twisted into.
A car w/o a trunk lid, now there's a great combo.
.....into a Tasmanian dust devil?😊
😃😃
just found out this morning that the date to be able to order a 2023 has been pushed back to some time in Sep.
There is almost a cult following on Avalanche around here.People drive them with hundreds of thousands of miles on them.I know several pretty wealthy guys (They are cheapskates) that drive Avalanches with 500,000 miles and do whatever it takes to keep the going.

The new Bronco is a good reason to follow this thought process.....great looking, but some major issues !
Might consider buying a Bronco later
