The Luty

Mr. PerfectMr. Perfect Member, Moderator Posts: 66,381 ******

Anyone who has been around the block in firearm circles knows about Mr. Luty and the sub machine gun he designed that you can make out of "every day materials". This is the first video I have ever seen where someone actually made one and then reviewed it.

Frankly, it's quite perfect IMO. I can guarantee you, you don't want to be down range from it. And it more than serves the purpose it's intended for (I can think of several).

Anyway, the video creator (who just gained a new subscriber) touches on several of the major purposes so I won't restate them here, but I think the main one not mentioned is you use this gun to get a better gun from your armed enemy. I hope you find this as interesting as I did.

Some will die in hot pursuit
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain

    Mr. Perfect

With a background as a tool/die maker (20years), machinist (40years) + sheet metal, welding, most all industrial arts.

I'm sure there are more than a few here at GBGD with similar knowledge ... a machine shop, access to a junkyard and we are

good to go for home made weapons ! I made many zip guns. .22lr to .410 ga.

New to me: Brandon Herrera, I found him knowledgeable and entertaining. I subscribed too.

Agree, battlefield pick up of enemy ordnance is a priority.

All in all a great informative video. Thanks for posting !!!

gesshots... That barrel can also be made via machine shop. Whole anything firearm would be 303 Stainless or possibly inconel. If I have the blueprint, or one already built... It can be made. Any heat treatment would be farmed out. Or how about building one out of aluminum with hard coating.

    Lathe to rifling machine:

    Helical Machining

    Two good videos -

Car/truck axles make excellent gun barrels. When barrel steel was unavailable - many WWII barrel makers used junk yard axles with good results.

    I made a smooth bore, .45Colt salute/starter cannon from an Autocar, 2.25" axle !

Luty took a lot of grief from his government, including jail time. I have never seen a Luty but I have seen some cool home made guns.
