(And my little sister who was always trying to be in the way)

That's funny. I always had a little sister that seemed to be in every picture I was in. She loved to get into my stuff when I was not around. I would pretend she was really bothering me and holler for mom to come and get this little brat. She would always wonder how I knew she had been in some of the drawers such as my gun cabinet etc. I would put a little piece of scotch tape on the drawers and doors and if it was lose or missing I knew exactly where she had been and it fascinated her how I would know. I can still hear that little giggle. She was and is now my little sister that's still a pain in the rear. But she calls me every night to see if I'm ok or not.
She's a retired high school teacher. She got out at exactly 30 years to the minute she couldn't stand it any longer. The liberal people running the school system and parentless kids were driving her crazy. She divorced many years ago and takes care of our elderly Mom these days. She takes Mom with her every where she goes so she don't just sit in the house. She plays her bagpipes at a lot of military funerals and she plays her harp at a lot of weddings to stay busy and for the extra money since she retired early. She's been all over the world with her music. She spent a few months a cruise ship playing her harp in the dinning area. It was the Royal Viking Sun she played on. She was picked as a member of the US marching band that traveled the world when she was a youngster. She was a majorette in college while studying music. She also won the MIss Knoxville title back during the world fair in Knoxville. She was a cutie and I was her proud big brother.
She waited until her ex husband had died before she ever told me he abused her. She knew I would have killed him so she kept it to herself to keep me out of trouble not to save his sorry rear. I thought about digging that SPOS up and dumping his bones on a busy highway. You didn't mess with my little sister and that SOB got away with it. He's still got to meet his maker someday.

SMITTY, would you introduce me to your liittle sister?
In '65 I turned 9 and my mom made me a cake shaped like a rocking horse. It had browned coconut dark spots with white frosting on most of the horse. Guess you'd call it an appaloosa. It was saddled with dark frosting and had lifesavers for eyes. Black licorice tail, big gumdrop hoofs.
She had this cake decorating book (maybe from Betty Crocker) that had all sorts of neat cut out shapes for things like fish, mice heads, and my favorite horse! Funny how memories from so long ago never leave us!
