Good news everybody it wasn't a stroke.

yoshmysteryoshmyster Member Posts: 21,879 ✭✭✭✭

It turned out to be Bell's Palsy. Woke up and my right side of the face wouldn't cooperate when I tried to smile. Left side would smile/sneer but not the right side. Yes I look like Japanese Elvis. I thought "hmmm, stroke". Did the checklist half of the face not cooperating. Check. But that was it. Maybe a mini-stroke? Nope.

So it will just make me look more interesting.

Had to look that one up. Sounds like it will more than likely resolve itself in 6 months or so. Glad it wasn't a stroke!

"Japanese Elvis"... Cracked me up! Domo, domo arrigato totemo.

I too am glad it wasn't a stroke Yosh. Have you had any vaccines lately?

I've had one of each. Bell's Palsy back when I was twenty-nine. I was deer hunting in the snow...next morning I got up went to drink a glass of water and the left side of my mouth wouldn't work. I had it checked out, Bell's Palsy...got to the point my eye wouldn't stay shut. I think they gave me steroids, went away in about a week.

Second one was worse. Cerebral Hemorrhage...when I was forty two. I was lucky no major side effects. If I could choose a way to die, that may be it. When it happened it was like I was an office building and one by one the lights were turned off. You go deeper and deeper in to a lower level of consciousness. I was lucky, after awhile the lights came back on , one by one.

When I was released, for some reason the doctor told me to keep the sex down to ones or twice a week. I said thanks doc, that's more them I'm getting now......the wife slapped me..in the doctors office.....in the head.. I think she was trying to kill me😯

Brookwood  - Only "vaccines" I had were the biden/newsom special (Pfizer) two and one booster 11/21. Is that to blame?

ltcdoty - Rinsing my mouth after brushing my teeth is fun. Since my right slide is weak I spurt water so I have to keep my face in the sink so I don't make a mess. I know understand why some people brush their teeth in the shower.

I can't wink my right eye. If I hold my right eye lid closed then I can but try to wink on it's own hilarity. It's like being on novocaine but not numb. At least I can close my left eye at will so I can still shoot.

We'll see if the roids work. I saw that it's a coin toss of it working. There's also physiotherapy for it. So far I'm looking more like Billy Bob in "Sling Blade". I think I'll get some french fried taters later with mustard.

I'm glad you are OK. I think I'd welcome some kind of actual diagnosis for whatever is going on with my face....but its just age and a bad attitude doing whatever is going on to me.

Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

glad your ok for the most part hope all goes well

I had a co worker who had bouts with it half his face drooping drooling andno controll said it Don't hurt just a major pita

In his case we made fun of him over it trust me he was the king of picking on everyone for any issues even made fun of him self over it

I saw that most people get it on the left side of the face. Since mine is on the right is it VAX related? That would be an interesting study.

No drooping face or drool but eating pea soup with only half of my mouth making a soup face was hilarious. I took one of those mirrors to see what kind a face I make while feeding myself. Yes not pretty but pretty funny. I won't be dining out any time soon.

Hope your problem clears up soon yosh! My comment question asking you if you recently had any vaccines came from me reading a few side effects from some of those Covid shots. Bell's Palsy was one of them.

Glad it wasn't a stroke. Even bells palsy can be serious. Recover fully and take care.

Any vaccination has the potential to cause the outbreak of a viral infection that is dormant in your body.

I got the both shingles shots (Shingrex) 2 years ago. Two weeks after I got the 2nd Covid shot, I got shingles on my head & face. Same exact thing happened to my sister-in-law. Coincidence? I don't think so.

At least there are several very effective antiviral drugs on the market today.

I am confused, why is that good news?😈

  • He DogHe Dog Member Posts: 51,593 ✭✭✭✭

Hey Mr. P, from the Mayo Clinic:

    Causes

Although the exact reason Bell's palsy occurs isn't clear, it's often related to having a viral infection. Viruses that have been linked to Bell's palsy include viruses that cause:

    • Cold sores and genital herpes (herpes simplex)
    • Chickenpox and shingles (herpes zoster)
    • Infectious mononucleosis (Epstein-Barr)
    • Cytomegalovirus infections
    • Respiratory illnesses (adenovirus)
    • German measles (rubella)
    • Mumps (mumps virus)
    • Flu (influenza B)
    • Hand-foot-and-mouth disease (coxsackievirus)

Notice vaccines are not included there? Nor is Covid or any Corona virus.

  • yoshmysteryoshmyster Member Posts: 21,879 ✭✭✭✭

I heard on the radio on Hannity or was it Clay Travis? Anyways they were yapping about how the covid "vaccine" makers could not be sued for after effects. So had I not gotten the shots I may not have had Bell's.

Well because with stroke most folks don't just walk it off.
