Uvalde report: 400 officers on scene before gunman killed 21 (chicagotribune.com)
"Nearly 400 law enforcement officials rushed to a mass shooting at a Uvalde elementary school, but “egregiously poor decision-making” resulted in more than an hour of chaos before the gunman who took 21 lives was finally confronted and killed, according to a damning investigative report released Sunday."
One report said the Border Patrol officers who did engage the shooter received permission to do so from their supervisor in Washington, D.C. when no action was taken.
Heads are gonna roll, but will any lasting lessons be learned?

If true, they should hang their heads in shame. I don't know if we'll ever know the true story.
Too many cooks spoil the broth.
For a single school shooter, I want a maximum of four responders, but they need to be resolved to kill the shooter as quickly as possible.
Did they know it was only one shooter in the school ??

I think we had figured that out, but the report is still disappointing, depressing, and angering.
I haven't read the report so only know what was said at the news conference. First, whoever handled the audio setup must have been hired right out of McDonald's. I sounded to me like there were many plans on how to keep this from happening again but little on blaming anyone for what happened. I agree with jimdeere, I don't think we will ever know the whole story.
THEY WERE ALL COWARDS.............................................staging at the end of a hallway with ballistic shields and ARs.........not to mention that every one of those "heroic" LEOs was wearing body armor. They failed to act for over an hour. Putting their lives over those of the victims. One of those idiots even takes the time to get some hand sanitizer from a wall mounted dispenser.
I hope that there is a total purge of the agencies' officers which were involved.
I know I could never sleep If I had been there and stood by .
just hearing all the gun shots kids screaming for help and in fear . the 911 calls asking for help and stating we still some kids alive in here please hurry
That many LEOs and nobody did anything. I can't understand how this could happen.
Their priority is always "just to make it home tonight".
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
Total disaster in Command and Control. My best friend a senior Sgt in a large police department said it best. Any rank and file officer that disobeyed the order to hold and went in and shot the scumbag would get a royal butt chewing from Command and a medal from the political folks. He would have also saved a lot of lives!

News is saying around 370 LEO's not going after the shooter for several minuites.
Adds new meaning to the term, they do not have guns to protect you, they have guns for their own protection.
I heard maybe one LEO in a voice message inside the hallway on the news say, something like, we need to go get that shooter.
I did not hear anyone answer him. (and no response from the news media about such.
That one teacher that was wounded and laid on floor for over an hour and seen some of the kids wounded and dieing is not a happy camper. He also said the door was not locked and no LEO ever attempted to touch the door.
Also heard where the LEO's were trying to use keys to unlock a door that was not even locked.
Surely some of them LEO's are not sleeping very well and dropping their head when they reach for theri paycheck.
If I were in that bunch of LEO cluster's I would be getting out of Dodge fast and maybe trying to get a name change and see if I could get across the border going the other direction.
What a cluster.
"Arredondo (The schools Police Chief) allegedly failed to take on the role of incident commander or transfer the responsibility to another officer on scene, despite it being an "essential duty" he had assigned himself in the active shooter plan he helped write."
I'm at a loss for words.
I would like to think that the leo in my area would do better . We , volunteer firefighters have trained extensively with the local swat teams for active shooter situations. Firemen team with swat to rescue / remove victims. Our sheriff, bless his soul , said that the national standard stated that we ,fireman were not supposed to be armed ,he went on to say wasn't anyone going to get in trouble if they were . Said trying to tell us ,country boys ,not to go armed to a shooting spree would be like herding cats......frustrating !
