Are there any protections when paying by USPS money order ?

    No real ones. If you send by Priority mail you have a tracking number so at least USPS might take better care to get it there, but USPS will not insure checks or money orders. That said I have over 250 transactions, with at least 50 of them being USPS MOs and more being certified checks and thus far nothing has gone wrong. If you have a copy of the MO or Check and the tracking number, Gunbroker covers you. Eventually.
