Auction side Question - Credit Card System Down?

drobsdrobs Member Posts: 22,620 ✭✭✭✭

Tried doing a buy it now with 2 different CC's all with tons of limit.

Getting this error:

"Your credit card failed to process. Please try a different card."

But...

My credit card shows a pending transaction in the amount of the auction.

Tried it with a 3rd card just now, still no luck. Sent a message to GB and asked them to try. Sent them screen shots of the error and the pending transaction in my bank.

Should we take bets on whether or not I get a timely response?

I having some negative thoughts about GB right now...

Side note I picked up a ATI Galil pistol from Atlantic. It's cool but now I want a rifle to go with it and I want one built on a Tort Tort receiver like what is in this auction.

Yep and save the 3% charged by using cc.

About a year ago I tried the new system at least three times and it told me to try a different credit card. I finally gave up and now call seller with my card number. Some will even take USPS Money Order even though they state that they won't accept M/O. -------Ray

Out of state at the moment and didn't bring my checkbook.

But I guess I'll use a Postal Money Order.

    Here's the response from GB:

GunBroker.com does not take payments on the purchases made through the site. The payment you made for the order goes through the seller's bank.

We are only the gateway for your payment. The seller's merchant vendor actually processes the payment, so the Seller receives the payment attempt error response from the merchant vendor.

Please contact the seller directly to confirm the failed payment attempts and error response. If you run out of payment attempts, please contact the seller to cancel the order, to reset Checkout. Once the Checkout is reset, you may attempt payment again.

    Thank you.

I can misread that to say it's telling me to go direct / outside of GB.

Called the dealer & left a VM earlier today. No response back. Looking at the description - 1 man shop - screw the customer, and dealers feedback (28 F's in 12 months),

I'll wait till tomorrow afternoon then buy a JRA from Classic Firearms. It's a more correct version.

Gun Broker doesn't have anything to do with the payment.

The seller uses the system to upload THEIR gateway info and the system will run the card payments, but its not going through GunBroker at all.

Gun Broker collects all of their payments from the sellers directly....some fees are the buyer's...but they add this to the cost of the item so its collected by the seller and then paid to Gun Broker.

So, if there is a problem it isn't anything GB can do anything about.

Most of the time when your cc payment isn't working its a safety thing that your bank has put on your cards.....and you'll have to get your bank to authorize these payments so they will not be automatically declined.

It's the seller's credit card processor according to the email from GB. I'm not going to fool with it any longer. I will message him and tell him he's having issues that he might want to do something about. I'm going elsewhere.

Either way, if the seller didn't contact you to let you know what they are seeing its probably good to move on to another seller. When we come in Monday morning we typically see a couple declined transactions in the emails.....most of them are where the buyers are entering the wrong code from the back of their cards. I can't blame them...I can barely read those tiny numbers myself.
