Yay. Dodged buying the $220 spark plug wire for another two years. Barely above the minimum allowed. Since the valve cover gasket is leaking a lot now I'll be replacing them.

"$220 spark plug wire"
That must be one FANCY spark plug wire!
Is it svet with a good wrap 220 for a spark plug wire
I would be hitting up a local wrecking yard or searching tje internet
Sorry have to add in a parts story so bear with me
Or a option I was told as a young fellow we lived just across the street from a small church . I was working on my camaro the preacher he was fr NYC walked over invitede to church which was normal so he talked while I was working
Any way short version he had killed three people while in prison use to sell drugs Rob old peope for there money many more stories . but he was saved and became a preacher in prison he scared the congestion big time and did not last long in that Baptist church
Any way he said you know when I needed parts for my cay when younger I would go to large parking lots find a car like mine and take what I needed said it's not a suggestion just how I use to do it
Funny I did like the guy he was at least honest and you could tell he had been a scary fellow when younger
What is the going rate for a smog test these days?
Plug wires should be kept up because they can contribute to the risk of fire in a collision, if old.
D-R u ok?
thanks for asking
some days barely 😁 I have to learn to stop using my phone , I fat finger way too many letters and auto correct does not understand hillbilly
as for the preacher I don't think he lasted the summer , the congregation was way too reserve for his style . of fire and brimstone
now as for the replacement parts and parking lots , I never did any such thing , I always had a job and either bought or saved up to get parts . but I knew a group of guys I had met you could call them " thief's " they would sneak ( trespass )_ into a wrecking yard that was out in the country no other houses around for a few miles , and no one stayed at the junk yard the driver would drop off some one with the tools with a pick list of parts then allow time then go back by and pick up the parts picker ( or thief as most would call him ) and the needed parts if found
that was 45 to 50 years ago
8.5mm MSD wires. What was $150 before the "shortage" is now $220. Now mind you these wires lasted 20 years (back then it was $120) and still passed smog test with the metal connector in the boot missing.
I did get to try out the $200 KTC short flex head ratchet. I didn't go and use it to the hard to reach plug because I was lazy.
mark christian - The place I went to the guy threw a number $100 like he just fudged the test. I don't recall what I paid the last time (I should find the paperwork) but it's still cheaper than the place I used to go to and it's a walking distance from my pad.
There is a YouTube fellow south main auto in New York
God guy and seems to be top of his game on repairs he is also a certified check station for new York pollution checks
Many times he has shown cars that passed that he could not pass he would also get fined over it he gets cars to repair the other shops can't fix but give a pass on the car be rusted out or the exhaust he is being honest but said he could point out a lot of places that for a fee would give you a pass he said said part as a mechanic new York law is he can not turn in these places only the customers are allowed
And of course if your a customer and get a certified pass on a pos car your not going to turn in the shop who helps you
Makes sense
Any way give him a look nice family owned shop and as stated he is good
South main auto
Ditch-Runner - Dude I'm not going to New York to get smog test for California (if I read you right) when doing nothing (by me) got a pass for my car. Now the way the dude picked a number out of the air made me think dude just faked it. Maybe the $100 was shop hour? I don't know since I got no paperwork regarding labor.
My car is not a POS. I plan to have a Viking funeral in my Caprice Deadpool 2 style. That's how much I love my car. (I wonder how many Jerry cans I can fit in my ride?) Not that I'm suicidal (only sissies self check out or if the clinton's has marked you for death).
Not talking about your car or you traveling to NY.. that would not work out any way different states different standards just a story on NY bs test and how they get around it by shops doing anything for a buck he has said if the car is too rusty it also gets pulled a big issue here in the Salt belts
Hosest I am glad you got got a pass and I know how much the car means to you
It got off track with the 250spark plug wire but your talking about a set and msd have always been Good but expensive
I have a msd distributor and control box in my old camaro I think the plug wires are also msd its been a couple maybe 4 yrs since I have even driven it or even opned the hood
Sorry if if came across any other way
And I am glad for now at least, here we have no such laws
SMOG TEST???? Just keep paying for the privilege to live is such a place.
Ditch-Runner - No biggie I just got confused.
Mobuck - All the states I thought of moving to Oregon Washington State ended up being or worse than California. I do regret missing the blm block parties. How San Francisco's blm distraction was less eventful than the pride parade.
I live in a land of being able to locate the farm equipment by the black cloud issuing from the exhaust stack.
