I have been looking at forends for a Remington 760 and find they are listed as early variation and late variation could someone tell me what the difference is between a early Rem. 760 and a late Rem. 760 ? As always any info is greatly appreciated. Terrill

Thanks Jim I will check it out. Terrill
The early ones were grooved, the later ones checkered.
my very early 1953 760 is checkered in the five diamond style
Well this morning at the coffee shop I was told that the early 760's had a cap on the end of the forend similar to the Rem. 870 and the later 760's had a bolt that went in the end of forend so now I am still wondering if this fact or not. Thanks for all the help thus far.
there are several pictures of different ones on the numrich web site. the early ones did have a screw
I finally took mac10's advice and compared the 760's on the auction side and there are two types early has a cap kind of like a 870 and the later have a slotted head bolt. Thanks to all for the help.
