I must live in a safe place or nothing good to steal.
I was lugging in 2 three gallon jugs in and left the van's barn door open for like 15 hours. Got to the van and saw the door open and I thought that's odd. Nothing seemed to be missing. The emergency I forgot a snack to bring to work of cup o noodles still there. Also the empty 5 gallon tan plastic jerry can still there. That I would have stolen if I didn't already own it. I forgot to check if my Cold Steel long handled Spetsnaz entrenching tool was still there.
I was kind a wondering when the cat or raccoon will pop up as I was driving on the highway but no hitch hikers.
I was also wondering why none of my neighbors who parked either side of me didn't close it. You would think the one who parked on the passenger side would have but didn't. I reckon they must fear the solitary Japo.

Damn, I live out of town and I gotta lock my car day and night
I live 10 miles from town on a dead end road with 4 other houses on it. I lock my pickup doors EVERY TIME I get out of it, even while fueling up. Make that a habit, and you won't be sorry some day. Granted, it can be broken in to, but it won't be my fault for leaving it unlocked for some tweeker to grab and run.
I live in the mountains of Western NC, and the only reason to lock your car doors is to prevent a bear from getting in.

My niece lives in Sevierville. Black bear got into her sons car last fall . They had to pretty much replace all the interior of it where he ripped it up .
