Today's the day

Linux Mint 21 came out in long-term support version last week. Today's the day I'm going to upgrade this machine to it. While I'm at it, I'll install a new SSD drive with more giggle bites of room. That also allows me to have the current drive with Mint 19.3 on it as a fallback. I expect no problems, but tweaking the new version may take a while to get it looking like what I'm using now.

See all y'all in a couple hours...

I wish you good luck Rocky! I envy your computer savvy and knowledge.

As for me, computers frustrate the heck out of me when things go wrong. I can easily compare working under the kitchen sink trying to fix leaks or installing new fixtures to figuring out computer problems. I can fill a cuss can with enough money to take a vacation! 😁

It was a bust. There are some new features in Mint 21 that I like, but I could not get my necessary Quicken 2010 to run. There's a small obsolete Microsoft add-in that Quicken needs, but it's 32-bit, and Mint 21 could not run it.

Fortunately, switching back was as simple as popping my old hard drive back in. I'll keep running Mint 19.3 until support for it ends. After that, I may switch to MX, which I know will run Quicken because I have it on one of my laptops.

As a humorous aside, we had a leak under our kitchen sink last week. I called a plumber.

And to think, you probably have more computing power at your fingertips than was used in most if not all the missions flown while you were at NASA, combined. It boggles the mind to think about the amount they must have now! Bob

I may still upgrade to Mint 21. There are some personal finance programs written for Linux that mimic Quicken pretty well. I've been looking at MoneyDance for the past hour, and it might suit me almost as well.

Seems there is always an alternative program @Rocky Raab finding it is the hard part, good luck!
