just a bit sad and upset
we have lived here for close to 30 years +/-
no one has ever bothered any thing
when my wife was leaving for work this morning ( Monday ) I was standing out side saying have a good day and be careful . as she got in her car she ask did you get in my car and glove compartment??
after looking some one had ransacked the glove compartment and center console all the paper s like insurance and tags and so on were in the sets and floor , there was a bottle of ibuprofen she keeps in it the lid was off it and also tossed in the seat , nothing was taken as there was nothing too take LOL
her car was parked along the edge of a field and mostly hidden by shrubs and the pine trees
I did a quick check no other cars or trucks or building were disturbed ,
my youngest son lives a mile or so away said its happening more around us his friends have all put pad locks ( along with him ) on all the out buildings and gates .
from what he said and heard sounds like the drug dependent low lifes are getting restless even out here in the country
I am guessing ( not rocket science ) there searching for money even change or even a prescription drug too support there needs
wife knows I do not sleep well and go out at night at any given hour or go out to the pole barn to kill a few minutes , she said you know you better start taking something along with you ,
as we never know how some one would react if caught

Ditch-Runner, I moved out of Indy whern the neighborhood was going down hill. I had bought a new little house in a development when I was discharged from the service in '65. In '82 I moved just outside of a city of 400. I didn't even lock my doors back then though I did have two Bullmastiffs that lived inside. Things have changed. The town is expanding, some call it progress. My dogs are gone now but I still have my friends - Mossberg, Bushmaster, S&W, & Ruger. Nothing lasts forever.
I have to agree I grew up in a small town about 12 miles from where I live the population has at least doubled or more since I was a kid , but all the violence break ins and basic the no one gives a crap about the laws has filtered in to it
I live about a mile south of a "village " small place and mostly older and multi generation farmers . but slowly the bad influence has been creeping in . not that drugs and a stealing gas and such things never happened thats a given every where
but last couple years has grown into every one double locking every thing and more suspicious . not funny but the small town leave it to beaver style town has long gone .
my son told me a friend of his , has a younger brother he has been to rehab at least three times over meth and recently pulled over and tested high on meth again , he is due back in court its a shame his family are good people there third maybe fourth generation farmers and not lacking for any thing so it can and does happen to any one .
we think some one (s) have been watching notice the car sits most of the time in a some what dark area and became a crime of connivence, there was nothing to take just that sense of security we had is lost now
During the summer months I park my car outside the garage in the turn around part of my driveway. Never had any problems so far with thieves but my wife recently told me that there have been a few car break-ins in the nearby town (3miles away) reported.
She also mentioned to me that I had better start making sure the car is LOCKED at night. Something I rarely think about but then realized that I have my garage door remote kept on the sun visor! Very easy access into my mancave! 😲 Car is now always kept locked when parked!
years ago I had a toyato pickup and parked it on the street one night. when I got in the next morning the passenger side window was broke and my ash tray was missing!! they had dumped all the butts and ashes on the seat. what really made me mad was the door was unlocked ! they didn't have to break the window just open it.....
That sucks, DR. Hopefully it was a one and done event.
The small town I used to live in was pretty safe. However, I had to lock my car doors at night in the summer. If not, the neighbors would fill it up with zucchini, squash, etc.
if you find out who it was, you could put a pile of brussell sprouts on their front porch, ring the door and run........
I did have a van that got hit a long time ago on Devils Night. The young perps filled my 8 trac player with shaving cream. I didn't notice that my glove box was also full of that stuff until I opened it a month or 2 later!! 😲
I live on a dead-end road ten miles from town. My pickup is parked outside, but locked, and being watched by a camera system that covers our whole property. I also have a cellular trail cam facing the driveway that I turn on every night. I set it up high enough that small animals won't trigger it, but an occasional bird gets a picture sent to my phone.
A friend and his wife went to Wednesday night church last week and returned to find their car door open. The thieves took a few dollars and his wife's Ruger LCP. Twelve of their neighbors reported car burglaries that same night.
Sorry to hear this DR..........Hate to say I have beefed up things out here on the farm...more light, more sensors, etc. It seems like this time of year the break ins start up around here. My closest neighbor has a big operation nearby. They have had some issues over the years.
But I do have Martha the attack cat, so they have stayed away from here so far !! 😉
Yogi will open car doors around here, best to keep the doors locked and Mickey D wrappers cleaned out.
They smell the food and will open a door like a sardine can, locked or not.
I think what the substance abusers do is steal anything small enough they can carry and turn into cash. The local news said there was a big jump in the number of firearms stolen from vehicles.
Not good news DR
We are living in an era perpetuated and glamourized by media, academia, and other influential DEMOCRAT subsets where crimes are decriminalized, law enforcement deemed bad or unnecessary, and crooks rarely punished and its spreading.
Toss in the wide open border along with Bidenflation and such activity comes as no surprise.
We must keep and preserve our gun rights.
Wife and I were talking we have eight maybe nine skunks sharing the place
It would have been great if who ever it was had scared or stepped on one while seeking around the place going thru the car
And had a good spraying by one of the black and white yard patrol critters
