was out in the country this weekend to check game camera and decided I should shoot my deringer few times as it has been a while, or so I thought! I pulled up on an old tree stump and click, checked safety and tried again, click. opened it up and both shells had been shot!! I have been carrying an empty pistol for I don't know how long. loaded it up fresh and I did kill the ole tree stump 3 out of 4 times, but makes me wonder how long ago I must have done the same thing and forgot to reload when I got back to the truck.........??

Did ya re load this time??
yes, and two spares in my pocket.......
Treat all firearms as if they are loaded. If that came out in a have to situation.. the bad guy wouldn't know it wasn't loaded.
,,, and I forgot what's second to go.
I always clean my guns after a day of shooting. Kind of rubbed off from all the muzzle loaders I own and shoot. Also puts a bit of spark to my brain cells without any need for memory pills. YET.
An empty gun in a gun fight could be problematic at best. But I doubt your the first to ever forget to check before you left home. Some people have went out hunting before and forgot to take ammo with them, I won’t mention no names.
I know one guy who had ammo for his hunting rifle but it was the wrong caliber... He hunted that day with his sidearm.
Over the years........how many times have "we" left our loaded ammo at home, and then left for the range?
Then there's leaving "stuff" at the range, and heading home.
Nooooooo........not me.....🤐

And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
I always heard memory was the second thing to go.
Just never change jeans and good to go. OR they will be tumbling in the dryer next wursh day.
I wish that memory was the first thing that went ....................................... sigh ...................
I would disagree but the hammers wont let me.
You did what?
