New super sonic airliner, the Boom Overture.
Sure is a pretty plane, I wonder if it will live up to the hype?

That's pretty cool alright! Cruise at mach 1.7, that's gettin' some hustle on.
Is it electric?
I mean, airplanes and cows are next on the list, right?
I've seen that on the news recently. When the pics came up on the screen, I thought it was the Concord. One thing not mentioned is if it will have all the restrictions placed on it that the Concord had? There were places the Concord was not allowed to fly due to the sonic booms it created. Betcha the airfare will put it out of the range of us common folk. Regardless, it is kinda awesome. Bob
I went to Oshkosh Wisconsin air show once when the Concord was there. They gave some people a ride up over Canada where they were allowed to fly a Mach 1 and then came back to Oshkosh. What I remember most about the Concord was how loud it was. Went down towards the end of the runway where it rotated, actually made my ears hurt. It had some big engines on it let me tell you. Got some good pictures of it rotating under full power.
Evidently it runs on 'sustainable aviation fuel', whatever that is/means. Recycled Mickey D's fry grease?
As for the sonic booms, it sounds like it will only go super sonic over the oceans where there's no one to bother.
Thats the jake brakes of airplanes
When I was a kid I can remember those sonic booms in East Tennessee. They would rattle the windows in the house. I thought it was pretty cool myself. It would scare the crap out of you sometimes though.
Then again it could have been one of the moonshine stills blowing up. Either way it was loud. 😀
It looks an awful lot like the old Concord and the USSR clone that liked to crash !!!
As far as it's looks go it's a matter of 'form follows function' I imagine. Only so many ways to skin that slippery-in-the-air cat.
65-80 capacity...
Those thin wings look like they could fall off from the weight of those 4 engines!
I still find myself scratching my head when I compare car hoods on todays vehicles compared to what they were like back some years ago! But what the heck! Even tin foil is thinner than it used to be!
This is what I call a “”paper airplane”.
That is, this thing will only ever exist on paper.
They have a $200m development budget & currently no engine supplier.
For context, Boeing spent 20 BILLION developing the 787 & Airbus spent 25 billion developing the A380.
If they make it, Ill fly on one, but Im not holding my breath.
I agree with your paper airplane summation Warbirds. Every paper airplane I ever folded up had "Delta" wings and a pointy nose!
I find the engine nacelles to be interesting. Reminds me of the B-58 Hustler. Most Mach 2 aircraft have them slung and blended into the body or wing.

The supports for the nacelles look incredibly small to me.
I guess their XB-1 demonstration plane is supposed to fly for the first time next month. I hope they can make it all work.
Wow!! Mach 1.7 !!! imagine how fast the airlines will be able to lose your suitcase!
You are most likely correct, Warbirds, though supposedly American and United have each ordered 20 of them.
This would put the production run at a minimum twice that of the Concorde. IIRC, only 15 or so of the Concordes were in commercial service. If these two airlines are truly serious, there would no doubt be some funding coming from them, and once in service, it would be a vanity acquisition for any number of other airlines, particularly those of the Gulf States.
Brad Steele
Agreed. The nacelles so close to the underside of the wing looks like a turbulence nightmare.

Just think! You arrive across the pond in Europe an hour before you left the states! 😁
Only if you fly west.
Remember the ending to Around the World in 80 Days?
