I knew I was officially home last night when this critter was out in the yard... Armadillo PIC

Spent a great weekend at a HS reunion and came home last night. I was out on the porch rubbing Martha and feeding her treats and she kept acting more squirrelly than usual, alerting and looking out in the darkness.
Grabbed a rifle and took a look around, and right there digging away near my front step was a big old armadillo. I made a bunch of noise and it just kept on digging away so I yelled and threw some mulch at it and it backed off and then started to come back.......so...well you know what happened next.... destructive little buggars.. I guess it was thinking of making a new home there near the steps in my wife's little garden...

I think my puppers must be doing a good job of keeping them at bay on the farm. I see them crossing the roads around here or attempting to cross the roads on a regular basis.
Saw one here a few weeks ago. First one I've seen in Kansas. Naturally, it was on the highway and looking pretty thin by the time I saw it.
Normal visitor her in Texas, was probably digging for grubs, not nesting but if you don't want them then shoot em I guess, just another possum on the half shell trying to survive, I don't like the little holes in the yard, but heck ever critter has to eat...
They are all over the place here now...I seldom see them in the yard, usually dead on the road or on game cameras from the other end of the place.....I generally live and let live...
I took a tumble a couple years ago when I caught my foot in an Armadillo burrow. Opening day of whitetail season.. I guess I still hold a grudge !
we just have opossum's nothing armored .
during the depression didn't they get them name hoover hogs as people were eating them due to the economy and no money no food issues . they way were headed I guess we will have to name then "joe pigs" soon
Had on on my driveway last night near Glendale, KY -- about 45 miles south of Louisville.
You want him, come get him!
