So I got a notice to re-new the tag for the min-van. The tag expires in December and the cost is about $130 (I think) I just glanced at it since they haven't sent me my tags for my Caprice. I reckon I better send it out like now since it'll take them more than a month for them to cash my check.

I have a wild question- can’t you jist pay online?
Same thing here in CT , I will get my renewal 2 mon before and I gotta send it right out
I suppose I could but why should I be quick to pay when they're slow to react? Yes I know I'm the one who'll get screwed if I get caught. Wait a tick I'm supposed to be getting a California Gas Tax Refund I could use to pay that. I wonder which will get done first. Me getting the refund or them cashing my check?
If you have to wait on a refund before paying for your tags, you may want to investigate some sort of financial planning program. Hand to mouth is no way to live.
You make me feel guilty, my tag renewal for my F150 costs $3.75/year. Arkansas seems to love her veterans! Our personal property and real estate taxes were $945 this year, up from $875 last year, inflation hit us, I guess.
bullshot - Dude I was using that as a play on paying your credit card bill with a credit card.
grdad45 - I wasn't going to go to Gulf 1 just so I can get a discount (not that California would). Had I, I wonder where I would be today?
KenK/84Bravo - It was addressed Mr. Free Candy Man with tear stained futon in the back of the van.
Yoshy...........you complain about the costs ...........but you still live in Kali.
Can't you print off a copy of the receipt if you renew on line? If you get pulled over for expired tag you show them the receipt and they send you on your way. Anything's possible in Kali, but that's how it works here in Kansas.

When I worked in Kalif there was a note on the briefing board how far DMV was behind on processing renewals, and the courts would void any ticket that was written before that time.
But that was 20 years ago.

Yosh--RE: Gulf1---I really had no choice!😁 I was 1965-69 cannon fodder.
If I had to pay 100 bucks per vehicle I would burn them. I pay less that 100 for both of mine and it still is a rip off system in my mind. They tax the money I bought it with, they add sales tax to the purchase, they add over 50 cents in tax to the gas to run it, they tax the tires with FET, they charge tolls on roads, they tax repair parts, they tax what you pay for insurance.
Me thinks the buzzards gets enough.
Damm glad you made it back, whilst 60,000 did not. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you were forced to do, and prayers for those that did not come home or were "cared for" by the VA to this very day.
mohawk600 - I wasn't complaining about the cost. I was complaining about the slow turn around. I'm still here because the places I wanted to move to turned in to California (Oregon and Washington State). So I saved myself moving cost and finding a new job.
asphalt cowboy - I suppose they want us to do everything online but it's their job to do their job. Typically (if I remember correctly) turn around was never this slow. Three weeks? Them sending the tags.
