A pretty good load of white oak

While driving through National Forest last week, mrsdeere and I spotted a huge white oak blown down right beside the road. We went back and got a load this morning.
There is at least another load there, but it's big blocks and we can handle that big stuff any more.
These two weren't much help.

Well heck yeah. And for second picture,,, Awww
That's raysest!! Why no Black OAK??
That is a beautiful sight! I love to saw up, and split white oak. Great firewood.
Split 8 face cords by hand over the past 2 winters. Our Wisc. cold winter weather really makes in an easy job😉
They let you saw wood in a National Forest?
Here you can cut wood in the NF ,,,,,, the Forest Service will designate the area and for a small fee, go cut it. Now, the wilderness area is a totally different story.
Yep, but you better have your permit or Piss-Fir-Willy (Forest Circus LEO) will give you a ticket.
Makes me sad ,,,,,, when I moved to Colorado I left 21 cords of white/red oak, pecan and ash behind. 😫
Black Oaks matter.
White oak splits super easy
I dont know about super easy. Red Oak and Maple beats it by far. If its straight grained its ok but Im working on a 29 full cord piie now and my opinion is a bit different if the hammers will allow me to mildly disagree!
Nice, ... it would be good to let it season a little.
Yeah, this is for next year. I talked to a lady yesterday that needs some Ash trees removed. Emerald ash borer killed them.
I love to cut up and split ash. All my ash trees are dead. I cut a standing dead ash last year and it was only 27 percent moisture, it only needed a few months in the woodpile and it was ready to burn in the Jotul.
