Prayers for my dad
My dad lost his left eye, in a chemistry lab explosion, when he was 19 in college. About five months ago, he started to have a lot of trouble seeing out of his right eye. He had surgery to correct several problems. The surgery didn't work, and now he is almost blind. I finally talked him into coming down here, and going to wills eye hospital in Philly, where he originally had surgery after the explosion. Dr. thinks that his eye is just worn out, from straining to take over for his bad eye. He has cataracts and broken vessels in his good eye. The only way to explain it is, he just sees what appears to be a yolk of an egg color. Not a candidate for an eye transplant, because of the weakness of his eye tissue and age. He just turned 80. The only thing he is upset about is, not being able to see good enough to shoot. That's my pop. Dedicated shooter and hunter. Just keep him in your prayers if you have time. My dad is my best friend and means everything to me. I hate to see him in such a depressed mood. Thanks for letting me share this.Oakie

And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain

You, your Dad and his Doctors skills all get my prayers Oakie 🙏, I somewhat understand, with my terrible ears I've have to double-up on my efforts to take care of my eyesight because I'd be in a world of hurt without them.

On the way from here.
prayers sent, I am awaiting corneal transplants myself, so I know the bad eysight is no fun. went golfing today and only saw 3 of my drives, if I don't see the ball when I first look up I never do, then can only follow it about 125 to 150 yards at most. if it hadn't been for my playing partners it would have been a long day............

My Dad was blinded in his right eye when he was a teen, in his late 60s, about 1979, he needed cataract removal on the left side. I drove him to Dallas to a specialist because he was so worried about it. Turned out fine for him, and the specialist even found that he could restore SOME vision back to the right side.
Praying for a good outcome for your Dad.
Oakie, Prayers for your Dad.
I know how you feel. My Dad was my hunting and fishing partner all those early years. He was farmed out during the depression (seven siblings) and lived with contractor. Dad blew his right eye out with a dynamite cap when he was around 10, I guess. In those days they were afraid to try and save it for fear it would damage left eye. He learned to shoot from left shoulder and use other eye. In the late 50"s a industrial accident at work took the ends of his four fingers on left hand. He was a die sharpener. By the grace of God he had just enough on the index finger on his left hand to reach the trigger. ----------Ray
Thank you all for the prayers. It means a lot to all of us. Hillbilly, hope your transplant goes well. you will be in our prayers. Raymond, Your pop was truly an amazing man. We can both relate to our fathers having limited vision. Our pops had a hard life, but worked hard and raised us kids, without complaining. Oak
Prayers for your dad's eyesight. Found this on the web:
Researchers have linked eye-friendly nutrients, such as lutein and zeaxanthin, vitamin C, vitamin E and zinc, to reducing the risk of certain serious eye diseases like age-related macular degeneration and cataracts. You can find these antioxidants in green leafy vegetables, fruits, nuts and a lot of other foods.
