Remington 700 PSS Drop in Detachable Magazine conversion kits

Ive owned a 700 PSS for a few years now and have been interested in adding the magazine conversion kit. I had ordered a Legacy Sports kit, but it will not drop in without modifying the stock. (The screw holes on the trigger guard do not match up with the stock screw holes). I'd prefer to not modify the stock. Does anyone have a suggested/preferred magazine conversion kit that can be dropped in? I know HS precision offers them but was curious if there were others that would work. Thanks in advance

BTW, Ive heard that Remington does not recommend adding kits like these, but I figured I'd ask other opinions.
??? If the holes in the stock don't line up, will the screws line up with the action? Long action vs short action screw spacing could be the problem. Bob
Seems like that is the issue, but being that the kit from Legacy was made for 308 Win I assumed it would be a short action. Guess Im gonna have to get that HS precision kit. Thanks for the quick reply. Stay safe
There are also Hawkins Precision and Magpul kits that should work.
Legacy makes both long and short action kits, just go to their website and see if they offer one in your caliber. I've used the Legacy kit on my Rem. .223 700 short action and it fits well and the plastic mag cycles as it should. It is not the best conversion but is it is very reasonably priced.
What caliber is your rifle?
.308 and the packaging for the Legacy says it fits .308 Hence my confusion.
Thank you. I will check them out.
I figured out where I went wrong. When purchasing the Legacy kit, I ordered the HOWA instead of the Remington kit. (Reading is fundamental). Thank you all for your assistance.
Stay safe

I think that is very admirable of you to admit your mistake, and put a closure to your question here in the forum. Most people are a one question wonder, and we never hear what he end result was. Please continue to post here, I think you will be a positive contribution to this site.

I too hope MJG sticks around. Bob
