"Eleanor Roosevelt Quotes Marines"

"The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!"

"Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But the Marines don't have that problem."

after living in an open squadbay with a bunch of them I can say Mrs Roosevelt got 2 of the 4 right, not to sure about the cleanest bodies and highest morale parts...... and I have been called a lot worse than Jarhead......

    Thanks to all who served

No way to prove but a close friend of my oldest son . His grandfather was on irojema when the flag was raised (both times) he was right there with them

He was ask to be part of the photo but refused to leave his machine gun for a photo

he told his family lucky for many as he was using the MG just after the flag went up a second time

they were attacked he just said he mowed them down ,and by staying with his gun saved a lot of life's

he really had no reason to lye to his family so I take it to be true

I am sure many others who were there fighting did the same .it's too bad he passed on about ten yrs ago I would have truly enjoyed to have met him and heard his stories

    RIP to a great American

But who would have thought that photo t the time it was taken would be a history moment and end up being such a huge part of our WWI stories and monuments
