Jail Question

I have a friend that will be headed to a state pen. Hasn't been sentence yet but with 2 felonies, I doubt it will be a county jail. I want to contribute to his commissary account. Fortunately, I have no experience with this as I'm sure my GB friends also don't. But maybe someone might have heard. What is a reasonable monthly amount to send?
It's too late for me, save yourself.

I am no expert but the first buy will probably be the most.
Can you put in $80 the first week and $20 each week after?
There are lots of videos on youtube.
I sent 100.00 to my girlfriend"s sons commissary fund when he was in, they would only accept U.S. postal money order
$50 a week would be good.
Very nice of you do this for your friend
As stated I am sure countless youtube post on the subject
My experience is over 40 years ago and we could still buy cigs, but anything you can will always help. I'm sure your friend will appreciate it.
Thanks for the info guys. I was at the hospital with his single mom when he was born 20 years. I've known his mom since she was 11 years old. She is the closest thing to a daughter I've ever had. I'll wait until I know where he goes and ask them how they accept payment. I wish I could have done more while he as growing up but they are 750 miles away and I only saw them for 1 week/year.
when you know where he will be housed there is a web site for the instructions i worked the pen for 35 years
Just curious, what did he do to run afoul of the law? It is very kind of you to help him get through this time of confinement.
Each prison will be slightly different. Call or look online once you figure out which one he will be in. You MAY be able to put it in his account now, so it will be available to him sooner(either personal bank account, or jail account if he is in jail currently).
Not sure what he did, BUT there is a strong possibility that he will get probation or early parole.......based simply on recent stats.
Looks like two felony counts of burglary of a vape shop. Looks like he and a pal got away with about $4K worth of merchandise. That stuff must be really expensive. Unfortunately he was on probation for theft & assault while on his school bus last year. Thanks everyone for the info. As mac10 mentioned I'll just wait and maybe the prison will have a web-site.
I did a google search of "cost of commissary in Texas state jail" and it took me right to the TDCJ website with a list of all available items and prices..............do the same thing for the state where he is and figure it out rom there.
Sounds like a plan mohawk600.
